Thanks :D well the reason we do it was so we could go with some1 incase we got stuck and we don't know any lanes lol so if anyone wants a laning friend and can show us the ropes abit (in derbyshire) lol you know where to come. Thats why i snapped up the chance to come laning with the club :D first time out with any club so hopefully make some friends and we all have the same car or near enough lol its better than going out in a group on huge landies that laugh at you lol

Mike :D

No probs Mike, you'll be better with us anyway, a group of mates is always better than a group of customers :)

and just between me and you, I've got plans to repeat parts of this route in winter with the club ........and next year probably about Feb time a lane day in Nottinghamshire. So shhh don't let on.... yet

and then again, we've got Tong at Bradford in Nov, so plenty coming up.

A while back someone else in the club went out with simply 4x4 on a derbyshire run, and although there were meant to be 2 groups of 5 cars, they ended up in one group of 10 - hence my comment before.

TBH CRAG don't have a lot of time for Simply 4x4, they also run events around the Clywydians/Berwyns, where a lot of Crag members drive, and CRAG takes the opinion of greenlanes being open to all, and there should not be a charge made for them.

Ultimately Mike you were being led, but something to consider - under current law the police can give 1 warning for nuisance driving like laning on incorrect routes etc, then second time around vehicles can be siezed & crushed - having been led down what i now know post NERC was not a legal track anyway, I always tend to have a map and try & keep track of what is being driven.

:D Well looks like some good times ahead of us :D oh yer on the 15th is it ok if the dogs come in the back of the car? see thats the problem we have if there is an event a distance away ok the dogs could come but we have 4 birds of prey which need daily attention lol so its one day trips for us :)

off to bed lol i will reply tomorro :)

Mike :)

Don't see a problem with dogs. Robobone brings his, and I'm sure others do too. Just don't let them chase sheep - thats reserved for Robo

Mikeh, glad you decided to come along,

I recced Stanage couple of weeks ago, Redmires end is easy peasy, unfortunatly Stanage end at the crux point is severe, it was last crossed (as far as I know) by a group using waffle boards and spotters. I thought this was probably best left for this time as we do not want to cause any damage or have to turn around/get stuck/damage vehicles.

If you really want to do Stanage then another time, and we can go as a smaller group. Our group of 10 would more than likely attract the wrong sort of publicty and probably end up bunching and sat for hours.

We will be taking in some other classic routes still legally open, although as far as I know nothing so dramatic in views(or drop)!! I have been unable to recce all routes, and some are unknown to me - but thats half the fun.

Hi Guys!
Hope you have a great day out in the peaks on the 15th.
(now time to give a bit of Landie banter - make up for all the Nissan stuff I get off Shark1e)

3 of us in "proper 4x4s" did Stanage recently on 16th Sept, wouldn't recommend it unless you're in a small group with waffles and even then it might take a fair view to cross the one section about three-quarters of the way up.

We used 2 Discos and a 90 - all slightly lifted and with decent (large) wheels / tyres - just drove up (carefully) without any probs.

Some of the piccys are below, hope this whets your appetite? ...

HAVE FUN!

nice pix steve-ray, reminds of the rubicon route.

looks like would be interesting if someone coming down the track as well!

the landies do look well, certainly aspire to get the t2 modded in a similar manner, either that or get a lr toy as well, impressed at mount of us style kit available for them these days.

look forward to meeting up either laning or at an event.

Thanks Steve,

I can see you had a good time, nice pictures by the way, just spoilt a little by the farmers vehicles in them :rotfl:

I'm not doing Stanage yet till others are willing to risk a little damage, not many of our members have lifted vehicles, or the high ground clearance required.

You know your more than welcome to come with us anytime.

Some of the pics were of Pindale and Shatton? Is Shatton open all way full loop GR, SK 18368202 to SK 20098146, I thought it had a TRO and 1 section downgraded to bridle way, was intending to miss it out?

Cheers

Not sure - the route was a well used path that I've been on most of it before with an "organised" run. Chris from Derby (Doodlebug) and his lad did all the maps / routes - checked with GLASS and locally during week prior to doing the run.

From what I remember, we did a route round Monsal Head after Stanage.

Stanage definately isn't for the faint hearted or those worried about a little 'dink' to the truck - really needs to be 'lifted' a little + big tyres/wheels though. My 90's just got a 1.5" spring lift + 33" wheels and that works great :)

Btw ... when I first did Stanage (last Feb in the wet) - we met a group coming down and had to reverse back !! 8O

Thanks Steve, the route round Monsal is on our route, called Bull tor lane, and we're finishing in sight of Stanage in case anyone wants a look see (on foot). Been studying your photos today with Rbrt, and we both agree that it would be too damaging for Terranos, especially as a lot of our members have the 7 seater LWB and no lift. Definalty SWB or Patrol territory.

Cheers

Thanks for the pics Steve might see you on sat at cannock ,again cant make it all day but shuld be there for most of it

I went out with them sometime ago so you may be referring to me. What should have been two groups constantly became 1 group of 15!! I was really embarressed on many occasions as I was the last man due to having a CB radio and therefore was the gate closer and found myself apologising to all the walkers and mountain bikers we were disturbing. Having said all this I did enjoy the day at the time because it was my fist outing and knew no better.
