My mate gave me some brand new lights...

Theme the ones I bolt to the roof above tailgate and use as reverse lights and work lights
Great stuff mate :thumbs

I used a step drill or as I call it a Christmas tree drill to go through the roof, put some zinc primer on the bare metal then put the solid rubber grommet in and made a small hole in it, it's a tight seal round the wire but I reckon I'm still gonna put a bit of sealant in there :thumb2

Drilling through the roof would be the scary part if you ask me

:lol I wasn't looking forward to it but I gave it a bit of thought and when the time came I just got stuck in. It was drilled painted plugged and wired in 5 mins :D:thumb2

I use black plastic cable glands with a load of Tiger Seal around it. Yours is a good solution too of course.
Have you been out and tested them on the teuck yet?

Yes been out last night for a decent drive, they go about as far as my main beam but much much brighter :D It's easier to drive on those dark country roads for sure, I have them on a separate switch next to the switch for my rear light, both switches illuminate but only when the lights are on which Is what I wanted! The switches are not mounted permanenty, I am going to have to make a mounting pod or something for them as I want them on the A pillar, I'm pretty chuffed with my lights front and back :thumb2

Look on Ebay for a foot or floor dip switch. That is what I had on my T2 to control the roof lights. I have just ordered one for the Jeep, makes it much easier that trying to find the right switch on the dash. I then had a 2 way switch on the dash that allowed on or on with main beam.

You've got my mind going now, plus I struggled enough with an on off switch :lol

I tend to leave my roof lights to come on with high beam most of the time, but heavy rain, fog/mist or snow, and you want to kill them pretty quickly. The foot switch is perfect for that. It is actually illegal for any spot lights behind the front axle to come on with the main beam, so the foot switch also comes in handy for the MOT.

Basically, take a feed from the main beam to one of the outside pins on a 2 way switch. Take a live feed from the battery to the other outside pin. Take the centre pin of the switch to the centre pin of the foot switch. Then take one of the foot switch outputs to the relay for the spots. Leave the other pin on the foot switch free.

Basically, when the switch is in one position, it the lights will be taking a feed from the battery, and when in the other position, the lights will be controlled by high beam. The foot switch will then act as a kill switch regardless of which one of the feeds is connected to the foot switch.
