Just a little story of poor maintenance on my part really :doh
On my way to the coast on a Sunday afternoon with the caravan on the back, got on the motor way and noticed the battery warning light was on. Hmmmm I thought, better get off when I can and have a look, then the temp gauge maxed out, b@11@cks I thought and stopped on the hard shoulder with steam coming from under the bonnet
One of the belts had snapped derailing the other (I have no belt for air con) so had no alternator, pas, water pump or fan
I drove a couple of miles down the hard shoulder and off the motorway and to a safe place, about five or six miles I reckon, controlling my speed so as to keep the temp down, an impressive 40mph with a caravan on the back kept the needle about halfway :bow:bow
One of the belts was still intact, luckily they are both the same size so I reinststed pas/water pump and cooling fan and headed off to my usual motor factors which opens nearly all day on Sunday and wasn't a million miles away, two new belts fitted on the side of the road and back on the road to Scarborough :clap
I could kick myself for neglecting those belts, they should have been changed months and months ago, I think I got so wrapped up in the big mods that I never thought of the bread and butter stuff like that :doh
I had the correct tools and necessary skill to change them on the roadside and was very lucky it happened not too far from home, I was lucky that the guys had the right belts for me and that they were open, and I'm lucky that I have the incomparable Nissan 2.7tdi under the bonnet :bow:bow:bow
Everything has been fine since, just a tad embarrassing
Thanks for reading :thumb2
