So many cool things to do, I wonder if a hilift jack mounted accross front of bonnet would be dangerous in an accident, to the occupants that is :D

Er...

...yes!

More to the point, I'd check with your MOT tester, it may be that it's illegal.

Just before you go drillin' 'oles like.

:nenau

MOT has bugger all to do with legalities, just a tick list of perceived necessaties :doh

Yeah man, and I have loads of dirt on the guy :thumbs:sly

Useful...

...but do you have dirt on every copper that's going to stop you because you've got a HL Jack strapped to the front grill that'll disembowel any pedestrian that you clip. Why do you think they banned decent bullbars, the leaping cat on the front of Jags, and why The Spirit of Ecstacy has to retract into the grill of a Roller in a collision?

The law contradicts itself with this really.
Can't fit an A bar/bull bar on cars after a certain year but you can fit a solid steel winch bumper:nenau
Are all the earlier 4x4s with Bull bars fitted less likely to be in accident??
I think not.
Personally I wouldn't bother with a hi lift jack at all.
Like banshee says you need to add proper lifting points and 99% of the time it will just be another lump of steel to carry round.

Sorry Doug, forgot to get a pic for you, was busy putting up an electric fence :doh

Agree with Zac and Elty though, of limited use if you don't have the jack points. I only got one after I fitted the rock sliders on the Y61 as I then had jack points on 3 sides. The 4.2 has jack points on each bumper so I'll be sticking the mounts and roof bars on but won't have the jack mounted all the time.

No worries bud :thumb2

I will be fitting some rock sliders at some point so I will have the jacking points :thumbs

Moved the rad back a little and made some new mounts for it, I used some plate that I cut to size then rolled it round something...

My welding has improved, might not be the prettiest but I can say this peeps, wherever that winch plate goes the rest of the truck will follow, it's bloody on there good :D

Absolutely top notch, and you only been welding a few weeks, well done, Rick

Thanks Rick, I'm happy with the welds on the thick stuff although I do find the thin stuff less of a challenge.

T-Doug, that's a great job you've done pal. Well done and keep it going:thumbs
