Few more updates for you as I'm sat in a car being driven to the Cotswolds for a nice day trip out and a walk.

I decided to unwrap my spoiler the other night that Elty has kindly colour matched to my truck and he's made an amazing job of it, the finish is factory fresh!!!!! It looks pretty nice against the truck and makes the rear look a bit mean.

Then into some real work rather than prancing around looking at pretty things, I decided it was time to get the steering damper fitted.

Didn't all go to plan, I had to modify one of the U Clamps slightly to allow the bush and shouldered washer to go on, even with the modification I still had to find another washer but luckily Banshee has developed quite a selection of spares.

Then.....

Cross that one off, then onto refurbing my hubs and bearings, the brake discs were scrap as they were so so pitted on the insides.

I've gone for Blueprint discs this time around and also ordered a set of EBC Greenstuff pads as there seems to be all sorts of reviews but I've yet to find anyone thats had real life experience with them so I'll let you know when they slot in.

Interestingly according to that table on the side of the box there are 3 flavours of "Green Stuff" pad these are the 6000 series, there's also a 2000 and a 7000 series, I can't seem to find anything for the Terrano or Maverick higher than the Green Stuff 6000 :nenau

CV's and Upper Ball Joints seem to be favourites :doh Elty was working on getting some "Eltmini" Upper control Arms made (rips off's of Calmini) but makeitfit is useless and STILL hasn't sent us measurements That should solve the upper ball joint issue.

Other than that I'm worried that I've had to introduce 3 steering donuts now between the steering shaft and the steering box, maybe that needs some attention but there has to be some element of damping there still

Thats why i left the U clamps the full length as i knew you would have to cut it down.
I did both of mine and now i think of it i might have used a shallow nyloc nut to allow for the fitting of the damper bush and washer.

Made a start on cutting the flexible reflective bubbled insulation into strips this evening, the bubbled pattern makes cutting straight edges a breeze.

I was holding a trial piece into position for a few minutes whilst I was fettling and I can honestly say my hand got toasty warm so I'm looking forward to seeing if I can feel a difference.

I've tigersealed 2 sections into place and leaving the supports exposed as I want to be able to get at wiring etc. I'll be doing a nice full section of the insulation onto the underside of the roof lining as well to double up. After doing 2 and really getting into the job I then I ran out of tigerseal :doh

So Halfords first thing tomorrow then with the trade card, then off to pay for a Patrol :sly Expensive Morning one might say.

Update on the windscreen leak, this has now been resolved by removing the windscreen strip which didn't take much encouragement to pull off. I've then taken the roof back to metal all the way from there back to where the feet of the roof rails are ill be respraying this soon. I then injected as much tigerseal into that crevis as physically possible and pushed it into any cavities that were there using plastic spatulas that I'd devised. I then forced the seal inside and flattened it as hard as I could by hand pressing the seal into place.

This of course ooooozed tigerseal everywhere which was a very easy job to clean up with those "Big Wipes" in the big yellow plastic tubs. The rain thankfully held long enough for it to go off but when it did rain yesterday evening I bottled it and threw the sheet over it again to keep it dry.

I took the sheet off today knowing it was going to rain so I set some cardboard traps in the car to spy any drips and went out.

Came back earlier and the car and everything else was drenched like there had been a massive downpour and it was still spitting when we arrived.

Car was bone dry inside and I knew it was going to be before we had even got onto the drive as that's the first time I'd seen the truck not have condensation on the windscreen inside during the day :thumbs

Now the interior can come together :sly

Nothing to cut fortunately, it was just light bubbling and slight pitting on the top layers that's now sanded back smooth for respray, I think there was a bit of a pinhole or worse though down where the top seal lives though as it had dripped down and into the cabin soaking the chairs and floor when it rained :doh

All sorted now

Some more insulation action going on at Banshee HQ, as stated previously, I'm going to leave the supports free for easy access to wiring.

I then decided to attach another layer of insulation to the roof lining itself, I may even have room enough for another one or two if I'm lucky, I just need to see what the situation is with trim clip lengths then etc.

Slightly off topic but like an idiot the other night I had the Terrano on charge with my Ring Workshop Charger and in my tired state started the engine with it all connected which ripped all of the wires and display out of the charger. I had to rewire it all last night. Was quite a pleasant job actually, it's a very well made charger and now working as it should again :thumb2

Anyway, back to Terrance

With the insulation dealt with there I turned my attention to the new LED lights that I need to wire in.

I intend for these lights to get their signal from the middle interior light which has 3 settings, Perm Off, Perm On which work fine and the final mode, on when door opens, this doesn't seem to be working on my truck at the moment as it is functioning as another Perm On at the moment and will not go out. Elty has had this issue on his truck too but ended up going around the issue with separate wiring.

Elty said that this function is controlled by the TCU (Timing Control Unit) that lives above your fuses below the steering wheel. I removed my TCU and the light went out, put it back in and back it came back on. I have a spare from the 2005 breaker which apart from being a LWB was exactly the same spec as my truck so I might try and swap them over and see if it makes a difference, has anyone heard of this causing any issues before I do so?

Here they are for now anyway temporarily wired up just for effect so I can see all my hard work :naughty

I've been Vinyl Dying plastic interior trim too but no pics of that yet I'm afraid, I'll try and get some tonight, only just started though so not much to picture yet.

Loving this Zac, those lights are great and a good call putting insulation on back of headliner too. I so would of loved a commercial just love them.

Those lights are great are they just a simple strip of LEDs on a self adhesive backing without a cover or are they a proper lamp unit?

I bought the strip of LEDs and never fitted as they look vulnerable without any kind of case.

Thanks mate, they are fully encased, Ring Automotive ones, I'll get some close up pics when I'm home later, I aim to dremel the interior plastics, attach a bracket to the body of the truck, and then attach the lights to the end so they are protruding out slightly as being that close they cause "white spots" but when they are finished they will look amazing, they are so so much better in the flesh, the pictures don't do them justice.
