Nice one Banshee, great to see you making progress on the truck.

Whilst you have head lining removed could you insulate the truck. Tdoug says it keeps warmer but also cooler in summer, have been tempted to do that on mine.
What would you suggest using?

Tdoug uses some kind of foam with a foil backing, drop him a pm if he doesn’t see this post. Think he said it goes behind radiators.

Cheers mate, I've dropped him a PM but he's gone red

I'll have a look around to see if I can spot the stuff myself, it can be anymore than a few mm thick otherwise it will affect the trim going back on

I have just the stuff for you to insulate your roof:thumb2
Its called cellotex.
We use it at work to insulate fire equipment cabinets that go in extremely cold countries.
I have a load of off cuts if they are any use to you:thumb2

I was going to suggest that too :thumb2
Also, pepper the head lining with LEDs to give it a starry night sky look. :lol
Top work though geez:thumbs

I think Elty's cellotex may be bit thick.....:nenau

You can get a really thin foil backed foam roof insulating sheet (used on continent all the time) that has incredible insulating values, easy to apply with spray adhesive, easy to cut to shape (templates perhaps?)....

Similar to this from your local buiders merchants....:nenau

I love the idea of starry LEDs........

Thanks for all the replies guys :thumb2

I'll be giving the starry headlining a miss as I wouldn't want a lawsuit landing from Rolls Royce :lol :lol

I'm very interested in the insulation idea now though especially as I plan on sleeping in it too and would love to be able to do this all year around regardless of temperature. With the rear trim out there are massive voids between the inner skin of the truck and the body, I might get a load of insulation down there too and also do the insides of the doors where possible and the rear door :thumb2

The stuff I've got is only 10mm thick.
The link was just to give zac an idea of what it is:thumb2

More progress with the truck during the early cold mornings before I have to be in work for my 2pm - 10pm shift until after Xmas now :(

When Elty came around on Sunday to collect the SWB Maverick off me he also dropped me 4 bin liners of off cuts of the Cellotex that he had that I've started cutting to size and have now successfully insulated the rear door as much as possible.

I then set about looking for the best thin stuff that I could get and cut to shape for underneath the roof lining and Screwfix came up trumps with this stuff.

Going to get this cut up into sections tomorrow and adhesived into the truck before the roof lining goes back in after the rust repair job I'm having to do around the windscreen but more on that job in later posts to come :(

On a plus side I have found fantastic replacement clips for the horrible white brittle interior trim clips that Nissan use throughout the Terrano. Rather than using a 2 lug system to secure in place, these actually have 4 and also boast a rubber O-Ring around the lowermost section to prevent door card rattle. I can now get these for 12p each :thumb2

Is that the bubble wrap stuff that’s silver plastic? If so it’s what I use as window blinds when I sleep in the trucks.

Woke up this morning and decided that I was going to get the insulation in against the roof but rethinking things, I've put that job aside for a moment until I resolve the corrosion issue I've got going on above the windscreen.

It looks like the water has just basically got under the paint over time and its bubbled and bubbled and bubbled and just got that bad now that I'm having to flat the lot and reseal around the windscreen and then respray.

Not pictures I like to look at but I'll get some tomorrow when I do a bit more work out on it, want to have the whole section of roof I've masked off fully flat before I go to work and then I'm going to brave spraying it the weekend but plan on pulling it as close in to the garage as possible and using some sheets to create a pikey spray booth :lol

Until then, due to having removed door seals, aerial, and CB aerial, the truck is no longer waterproof so will be staying like this to protect it from the elements until then.

I've also been brought a lovely new steering damper for my birthday yesterday from the Girlfriend :thumb2 That coupled with the superb brackets that Elty has made for me will see Terrance with a new toy very soon :thumbs

Can't wait to see what actual difference it will make to the steering.
