Zac I will argue this point to the end, just show me where they state "depth of discharge" as a percentage of total capacity, they do not, it is a start battery that will not tolerate repeated 80% discharge that a traction battery does, the best you will get from those if you expect a reasonable life is 30%, it is all down to the plate thickness and in that size of casing to be able to deliver the starting amps required the plates have to be thin to get enough of them in, which means at 80% discharge they will lose lead at an alarming rate and die, enough said, Rick

That doesn't phase me if it fails, the guys that sold it me will swap it under warranty no issues if it fails prematurely and the last one has taken 2 years of constant abuse.

I have struggled to find any other battery on the market that was of a high enough CCA for starting that also promised leisure battery performance also having additional threaded terminals for my auxiliary items.

I don't get how they could label it as a Leisure battery and it not be a Leisure battery :nenau

The literature that I found online for this battery states that I'll get 500 cycles at 70% discharge - 1000CCA

Mmmm I still state my case that you are being mislead, 500 cycles at 70% is less than two years service, but how do you know that you are discharging to 70% ? unless you have an amp hour counter you are simply guesstimating, but if you are happy with what you have then fine, a traction battery on the other hand will happily take 3500 plus discharge/charge cycles to 80% , I would like to hear of a successful claim being made on a battery of your type after 500 full cycles within a 3 year period, Charles Stirling of Sterling power Products did a full write up of batteries for "leisure" use if you can find it it will open your eyes, sadly although I have a copy some place, I cannot find it, and the web site has changed but I am sure with your ability you will be able to hunt it down, regards Rick

Here's some pics of Terrance looking quite sorry for himself and in need of quite a lot of work to get him back to full health :(

Stuff wore out, stuff broken, etc etc, same shit different day :doh

I would love to see him try!!! The Defender and Disco clan that frequent the area constantly on the weekends are all on 35's+ and the tracks are immense, I bottom out on a few bits but reckon I'd come a cropper without the LOKKA :naughty

Pffft, easy with my lwb :p

Really depends if you are talking about rutting or over mount climbing? if overmount then SWB wins no question, but rutting depends on ground clearance or in other words wheel size, so LWB SWB makes no difference, Rick

So basically a SWB with big wheels wins then :sly
