SWMBO has a little Renault Megan, which I drive as necessary......I don't have too much of a problem with 'small car' syndrome.....apart from the rubbish seats which kill my back......:nenau

I like driving my mums peugeot 107 for a laugh, especially when she had a fluffy white toy dog on the parcel shelf, people are quite aggressive towards it but when they overtake or pull up the side at lights etc the look on their faces when they see me and poop themselves is pure gold :sly:lol:D

New Mintex Shoes and Blueprint Slave Cylinders both sides, off to get 2 new runs of brake pipe made at lunch as the old ones have seen better days. Better get my arse into gear as I'm off to the Lakes on Friday with Barrbeast, Bigbunny, Elty and maybe some others I've missed :nenau

Also for reference, mainly for Ricks eyes!!! My Mintex instructions say not to mess with the auto adjuster never mind remove it :lol

Did you suffer brake spring tourettes or is that just me that suffers from it. Still got a nicely bruised finger nail:doh

Everything back together tonight, swapped the brake pipes too for some more Kunnifer goodness.

Bled the brakes single handidly using nothing more than, some clear tubing, a bucket, a USB webcam plugged into a laptop on my drivers seat and a 6D Maglight to hold the brake pedal down against the seat whilst I got underneath and nipped the nipples back up with my 8mm

Topping off with fluid as I go....

Ready for a weekend of laning now, just the small issue of disposing of the neigbours shed that I've Tetrised into the truck tomorrow lunch at the tip nearest work :doh

Anyone that says my van doesn't work for a living can go stick it

Have a great weekend Zac and co. :thumbs
Is that a bottle of polish I spy in your rear net:lol

Handbrake Issues

So this started before I went away to the lakes, I'd swapped the brake shoes and cylinders and noticed even though everything was set up correctly, my handbrake was taking about 13-14 clicks before it was effective at all and even then it was doing a bare minimum :doh

I adjusted the 10mm nut on the adjustable thread underneath the handbrake lever which meant it started to become effective at the 6-7 clicks mark but still not enough to really hold the truck right but that had to do.

I've got back from the Lakes and investigated further and it appears that the passengers rear drum cable had disintegrated underneath the outer sheathing and when I move it around it sounds very "graunchy" :doh

I'll order 2 new ones, no point just doing one side as I've just fitted new cylinder and shoes each side makes sense to keep everything paired up and more importantly, I want perfect efficiency from both sides :thumb2

Here was the tell tale sign something was wrong, I thought I'd re assembled everything wrong in the drum but upon inspection it was perfect

A quick trace up the cable soon found the culprit

Did you buy SWB ones instead of LWB ones or vica versa?

I know from looking they're different lengths

For future reference, I've used Premier Factors AGAIN for a pair of Blueprint ones at £27.77 each free delivery, these guys just cannot seem to be beat on price!!!!

For anyone else with a SWB Terrano, here are the Blueprint part references;

Rear Right - ADN146300
Rear Left - ADN146299

they were the lwb ones the point is i have gone back to local motor factors for parts

Still not put the new handbrake cables on the truck due to my drivers side front wheel bearing dying on me, I have new upper and lower ball joints to fit too. Upon removal of the hub I noticed that both CV boots were split and when I was stuck recently in the Lakes and had to be pulled out by Patrolman it was clicking like a good'un. Bigbunny will remember.

I pulled the CV apart at the diff end, The knuckle is held onto the splines by a circlip, I removed it and then proceeded to get rid of all of the shattered and crushed needle bearings. I had an old CV in the garage that I've stolen some needles out of. It's also way easier than struggling with a Bailcast fitting cone to get the boot to stretch over.

For future reference the needles are 13mm long and 2mm wide and there are 26 per knuckle :thumb2

I also binned the crappy band clips that come with the boots and replaced them for heavy duty jubilee clips and slapped in a good helping of Comma CV grease before refitting.

Saved a CV there :thumb2

And a shot of my new wheel bearings and racers fitted
