I run 50/50 in the summer months (when it is warmer) and checked the Gov website and although a bit vague, 2500 ltrs or less is tax free !!! Copied paragraphs below.......... Here is the link to the HMRC site.... sections 3.4, 4.2 & 4.9 seem to apply...

    newbie looking 4 advice

Hi & welcome.... as stated above re rusty bits and diff..... an 02/3 plate will likely be a fixed hub model so no worries about the springs in the auto hubs! check it works in 4WD..... not the most economical of vehicles but good fun to drive! Water pumps can go but easy enough to fix... my 02...

MoT failure - advice needed re facelift hubs

I suspect the stub axles are all the same across the range.... my 'fixed' hub mk4 looks exactly the same as the manual except no free wheel hub assembly, just the big old fixed flange bit... I cannot believe the parts are different across the different marks...so I would say all major bits are...

MoT failure - advice needed re facelift hubs

The only bit I can think of which is threaded is the actual wheel bearing locknut? As stated above the only difference is the 'fixed' hub just fits onto the splined driveshaft and bolts to the wheel hub - hence the permenant drive..... the locknut is held in place with a lock washer (big ring...

    fixed front hub removal

bit late for a reply on this but..... no special tolls required, just remove the locking ring (2 small screws) and then either a screwdriver and small hammer or I used a pair of long nosed pliers in the appropriate holes on the nut as it was not too tight.... call it a nut but it is a large...

    Air con

    Vandalism

Halfords sell a paint kit for most metallic colours, has paint, laquer and a little pen thing to do the edges first.... never used one but might do the trick?..... As for insurance I am 16 months into a claim where someone (in his works van) damaged my car, which was parked in a designated...

    Changing drive gaiters

Thanks for that.... nto sure whether to try sticky ones again or remove the shaft...... both sides seem to have tiny drops of grease along the seam as I guess there is a pin sized gap in the glueing? Certainly found the sticky ones easy last time so might give them a go again (and be much more...

    Changing drive gaiters

I guess this has been asked dozens of times but.... what is the easiest way to change the drive gaiter on the T2?... I have used the 'split type' boot/gaiter which you glue but they seem to leak a tiny bit along the seams? (MOT due in september so sussing out how much work I will need to do!!) I...
