Air con

Went to get my air con regassed today but found out that when switched on nothing is happening. Pump / compressor isn't coming on and no drop in revs.


Any ideas on fix or things to check or is it a new pump

I know nothing about this, sorry! But i would start wit the simple things like fuse, switch, live supply and earth - all the simple things first :thumb2

if they gassed it up and nowt happens then the first item to check is the pressure switch on the dryer, if this is registering no pressure then nothing will work, Rick

I do have an earth problem as my rev counter sometime doesn't work and had two mechanics tell me it's an earthing problem.

My Series land rover was always playing up until I fitted an extra earth direct from the alternator to the chassis.

Might try an fit one to the mav.

They didn't gas it Rick as it wasn't working.

Erm it will not work without gas, the system will not even begin to work without sufficient gas pressure, as otherwise the compressor will be running with no flow = no oil = bang compressor, it is a fail safe, the only way to test is charge the system (does not have to be R134a, can be dry nitrogen) but this will then allow testing of the electrics to a point, but at least it should bring the compressor on, and it can be tested for leaks etc, Rick

Agree with Rick on this one.... no/very low gas = no compressor running. I redid myself with a refill can from e bay and got it working fine, right up uintil the condenser broke :doh:doh... now saving the £100 ish to replace with a new one :thumb2
