Hi Nerdy sorry to of hijacked yout thread:eek:

That's an idea? you say the heater hoses run up there? Clivvy would they be shown in one of those photo's that you emailed me?

Surely it's more likely a hose would spring a leak and K-Seal wouldn't seal a hose would it?

Jim T

I can make an assumption that the two hoses I was looking at today are those, they both run into the back of the engine bay, presumably into the bash area somewhere, they both start near the thermostat. VERY easy to look at and follow, if you remove the intercooler.

yes they are the two long black hoses....Flow and retturn that connect to bulkhead (metal panel between car and engine bay) they run into the heater matrix which is the tine radiator that supplies heat to the inside of car...incidently does the heater work ok?

Hey no worries jim....k-seal certainly wouldnt seal a hole in a rubber hose im sure as its copper and needs metal to bond to....I dont mind you muscling on my thread at all....as long as you too dont mind being under the name of "what a plonker!":doh

Well I've just been out to look with a torch. I'm pretty sure it's not the hoses as they seem dry as a bone. I had a good look and can see the water running down the block behind the dip stick just below the rear driverside intercooler mounting. Hoping I've done this right. I've attached a photo that shows a semicircle just below what I'm assuming is the inlet manifold. I'm thinking this may well be the culprit. I think next weekend I'm going to remove the intercooler if I've got the time. This isn't my photo this is one of Clivvy's so is bone dry.

evening Jim....yes the semi circle is the core plug that could be the culprit on yours im sure...but you are gonna have hell of a job getting the manifold right off due to the metal pipe running around back of engine as i said earlier but at least you wont have to remove the head if this is the case. its times like this you had a magic wand! i did think about putting some reallybright food colouring in the vitara but never got round to it .... dont think it would effect the coolant too much as draining it anyway but if you could see it before it gets too much awash might answer your original question on where its coming from...just a thought mate
