The 2.7 has both a front mounted ATF cooler and one built into the bottom of the coolant radiator.
Replaced mine a couple of years ago.
Paid around £100 for mine but it's only a single core so engine warms up quicker but does run hotter if towing, especially on long inclines.

Cheers for the info Elty. I'll have a look tomorrow and see if it's the same.:thumb2

As Elty says, there are pipes cooling the gearbox. Did wonder if it is worth the risk fitting my own fittings to a standard rad but is it really worth it?
Cannot risk overheating the box by losing the box cooling so will have to dig deep I reckon:doh

Is there a pump somewhere too, or is the flow through the rad enough to circulate the gearbox cooler?

Automatic transmissions have a gear pump to get the fluid from the sump to the torque convertor and through the transmission cooler.

How about fitting a dedicated rad for the box?, I remember you saying it gets hot, maybe the patrols have separate ones!

There's a cooler in front of the rad next to the aircon rad but I doubt it will be enough on its own which is why it goes through the main rad.:nenau

when i had replace my last rad which was the type for auto i found my local nissan dealer was about £30 dearer for genuine one so i bought it rather than have a unkown brand one might be worth just checking their price sometimes they can be cheaper

Didn't even give the Nissan dealer a thought. I'll ring them:thumb2

Well, I was supposed to be getting a new rad from my local motor factor, who have been excellent in keeping me informed, from over seas. He chased it up after the snow brought havoc, to be told it was stranded on a delivery in Holland.
I received a call yesterday to be told it wasn't on the delivery and after contacting them, they had sold it to a local!
So after a chat about different options we've agreed to get a new non auto rad and they will fit the extras needed.
We will see:thumb2

I had no problems sourcing a new rad for my auto.
I'm sure it was a company in Bradford i bought direct from.
Will have to dig out the paperwork and see:thumb2

Cheers Elty. The dude I'm dealing with seems to know what he's doing but another option would be good.:thumbs
