How do you find those glands? I used them on project truck and ran cable straight from the lights through them but I didn’t trust either the rubber cable seal or mounting washer so used tigerseal around them.

I filled the flexi, the glad and around the washers with silicone as a belt and braces approach. :thumb2

Now I've drilled a hole in the roof I may as well drill more :lol
I'm looking for a 40 inch light bar to mount on the front of the roof rack and I also want to permanently fit my CB. The rack will be covered with a piece of ali checker plate so I'll not be able to use my magmount.
I'm thinking about making a bracket to fit between the spare wheel and door for a CB ariel. Not yet worked out how to get the cable through though.

A sunny Sunday so........
Fitted a couple of led lights to the rear of my roof rack.
Welded on the brackets and drilled to run wires inside the rack using rubber grommets and heat shrink.
Gave it a paint up.
Used a waterproof gland and flexi to run the wires through the roof.

I have a switch inside the rear door so i can use them as work lights, and utilised one of the switches I fitted beside the handbrake so I can use them while reversing.
I did intend to link them to the reversing light but when reversing my caravan, I thought it would be more of a hinderence, so decided not to.

What are the bits called and where did you get them from? The bits being the black plastic that's protecting the hole that was drilled and holds the protective tubing.

Search for Skintop Cable Glands :thumbs

The metal ones are supposidly "blast-proof"

Cheers. I'd never have found them on my own. :thumbs
You've done such a good job there and I'd be foolish to stick to my original plan (the doors would crush the cable eventually, anyway)...

Thanks. Drilling through the roof wasn't something I wanted to do but it was the only way.:nenau

It's worth it in the end when you've done it right, but even so, Tigerseal the hell out of them or learn the hard way!!!! I don't care how hard you think you tightened the gland!!!! :sly

Too right Zac. You could easily strip the threads on the plastic glands over tightening them. I would have used stainless ones but wasn't sure if the flexi would fit them. :thumb2

Well this is shameful. April 2018 since my last post on this thread:doh

Get it updated mate.
I know you've been busy with a few little mods since then:thumb2

OK. It's been a while but things have been mental with career changes and other life challenges but I still have my truck.

Had a truck to pick up as a project

ended up selling it on as I had to move workshops and didn't have room to keep it unfortunately.

Still have my caravan too and the truck has coped very well towing it about. Does get a tad warm inside through the heat off the gearbox, but it does well.

Then covid and the world went mental....

I decided to take the truck off the road for a while as we weren't allowed to go anywhere:nenau

And this happened...…

So the reason for this tear down is to make room for a winch. Not able to fab a complete bumper like our Elty so went for the modifying approach on the existing bumper.

Teaching myself TIG welding too but probably not the wisest thing to practice on :lol
