Took a step towards a new rad today. Dropped in to have a word on the way home from work and the plan is to remove the bottom tank from my rad and fit it to a new non auto terrano rad.
So out it came:thumb2

How it hasn't leaked before now I don't know:lol Right mess it is.
No damage done getting it out either

The old rad is with the rad man. Will have it back by the end of next week:thumb2
I also replaced the cabin/pollen filter while I had a spanner in my hand:D That was filthy
And this morning it was -2 and snow flurries so as I decided to remove the rad on my drive, I cant get it anywhere warmer so tools down and kettle on. :lol

I was only thinking about my pollen filter this morning, I had an idea the other day that I was going to buy one of those cheap diffusers that women put into houses with the reeds sticking out the top that smell nice.

I was going to empty the contents of the jar all over the filter and then when it had all soaked in refit it, I bet it would make the car smell beautiful

I'll test and get back to you :thumbs

Be careful you don't pick the wrong reeds:splif

Picked up my new rad on the way home from work and have a few days off so tomorrow I will spend the day tinkering, starting with fitting the rad and flushing the cooling system out :D

I've heard that once you've flushed the old coolant out that it's best to fill the rad and system back up with semi-skimmed milk for the first 3 months then add some Tabasco sauce after 6 :thumbs

Don't forget to crack an egg in there too, whisk it first if you can :thumb2

Well I've finally fitted a new rad. Had to use the bottom tank off my old one as couldn't get one complete anywhere.

Is it possible to install an oil temp gauge to monitor the gearbox oil?

Is it possible to install an oil temp gauge to monitor the gearbox oil?

Yep! That's another mod on my list. Some Aussies drill and tap a hole in the exit banjo bolt to fit the temp sender as gives a reading on the oil as it leaves the box but you can get mounts for fitting between rubber lines. I'm not sure how I'm going to do but I'm leaning towards fitting a standalone mount, probably just before it enters the cooler as I'd rather not drill a hole in a perfectly good banjo bolt :nenau

A sunny Sunday so........
Fitted a couple of led lights to the rear of my roof rack.
Welded on the brackets and drilled to run wires inside the rack using rubber grommets and heat shrink.
Gave it a paint up.
Used a waterproof gland and flexi to run the wires through the roof.

I have a switch inside the rear door so i can use them as work lights, and utilised one of the switches I fitted beside the handbrake so I can use them while reversing.
I did intend to link them to the reversing light but when reversing my caravan, I thought it would be more of a hinderence, so decided not to.

How do you find those glands? I used them on project truck and ran cable straight from the lights through them but I didn’t trust either the rubber cable seal or mounting washer so used tigerseal around them.
