New clutch pedal fitted tonight, turns out there was no bush left at all in my pedal, no wonder it was bad :lol

Pipework and Excess Strain on Water Pump

Whilst sat updating my project list at my laptop last night I was looking through the list of parts I'd purchased to fit my new heated fuel filter and a few things bothered me.

The heat exchanger I've already fitted is all plumbed in and working perfectly :naughty However, I have noticed that when I put the heaters on their highest setting now, they don't seem as strong as before, to get any real flow going I have to press the air re-circulation button, I'm going to replace the pollen filter as a course of action anyway, it's not a biggie really just an observation, the cab still gets unbearably warm after a few mins of being on to the point I might have to drop the window a notch.

My real worry is the excess strain that all the coolant pipework I'm adding into the mix is having on my water pump, if any at all. I've topped the fluid up accordingly and the header tank is at the right level but is this something I should address? :nenau

I'm just after some opinions at the moment, I may be panicking for nowt!!! :doh

don`t worry about the water pump,you can`t maul a centrifugal pump :thumb2

Thanks Rick :thumb2

Aren't all water pumps centrifugal?

most are but vehicle ones have larger impeller clearances, as opposed to my one at home here which can deliver 3 bar, with clearances of only a few thou, Rick

Electrical Bits

Whilst on the clutch swap I had to remove bits of the centre console so I thought while it was out I'd fix my dodgy 12v socket on the rear of the cubby box, you often see Terrano's with this issue especially with passengers in the rear, they get kicked and more often than not they stay on the floor dangling by their wires :doh

This is the offending location!!!!

I've now fitted and wired some extra sockets, some USB's and a voltmeter for good measure, it was trickier than you'd believe to find something with a small enough profile to fit in that gap as when it's refitted it sits above what I think is the central locking module which is harnessed to the transmission tunnel.

This one fits nicely

Sorry for the crappy light, the car was very dark inside and low battery so no flash

Good man. Looks good. That's another job on my list that's still waiting. It keeps getting shuffled down the list but soon Zac, soon I'm going to do a captain caveman in there:lol

I hate it mate, I do 1 job and have to put 3 more on the list when I've removed the one I've done :doh I'm always behind :(

3 belts! No point doing just 1 then is there? Good decision:thumb2

If I'm in that area I may as well do them all for the sake of re-assurance as for all I know the belts on it now could be from the bloody factory!!! I'll make a note of the mileage at which I've fitted the new ones and at least I know when they will need a change again in future.

It's due another oil and filter change in 7,000 miles :doh

The boy is nothing if not thorough.

When funds allow I try my best :thumb2

Well the heated fuel filter setup is now in the truck and piped up.

A few teething problems but I'm working on them, it seems that when the engine is running and I watch the fuel hose, there seems to be air drawn in via the electric pump which I need to address.

The Eckes Heater gets VERY hot, so much so that I took it out for a drive, got it up to temperature and then felt it when I got home, I now have a shiny index finger :doh The filter was lovely and warm too and the fuel outlet pipe from the filter was nice and toasty :sly

Problem I have though is I've replaced the pipe from the heat exchanger to the pipe leading to the IP and it's that hot that the pipe turns to Jelly    I see that lasting all of about 3 days!!!! So that's going to be swapped back for the black SAE rubber fuel pipe I think as that holds up to the temperature nicely.

Only other thing I need to sort is permanent wiring for the electric priming pump as at the minute the wires are just loose as I've been operating it from a small 12v battery. I'm really struggling to find a switch though, all the ones I seem to find online are dashboard mountable ones.

I want something I can just push spades onto and secure with a strap etc

Something like this but 12v and Waterproof :nenau
