Nice device but windows 8.1 yuck, can't you down grade back to 7. Having used 10 for over a year I don't have a high opinion of it.
UEFI stop swearing :lol

I've already decided I'm rebuilding it Windows 10 with a Work ISO and serial :naughty

I love 10 and I've been using it since it was an candidate release through work and I can't fault it. I've just retired my Toughbook CF-19 too as it's getting a bit old in the tooth being a Core 2 Duo, even with Max RAM in it and an SSD I can feel it becoming sluggish. I've just opened my new nearly new Getac V200 out the box and been configuring that with Win 10 for the past few days while I have some spare time over Xmas. I think it's nearly there now :naughty

The Windows 10 OS on the Venue Pro is the only place that the Metro style stuff really works. The on screen Keyboard and Touchscreen optimisation is fantastic and it really behaves like a proper tablet

Super Strong Steering Update

I've had the super strong steering setup on for a while now and it's taken some abuse.

It seems that the weak part of the design is the Terrano itself, it appears that the severe angles that the rose joints have been contorted into have caused them to wear and now have some play in them. Rather than waste money on some very expensive rose joints that may not last much longer than the ones I have now I opted to look for some higher rated tie rod ends again.

I've been going "door to door" in Warwick/Leamington Spa whilst on lunch breaks to lots of car spares places, commercial spares, agricultural specialists and nowhere seems to have anything on the shelf that would replace the tie rods I had.

Elty has been doing a lot of research and it appears that the Moog brand seem to be the most robust and best quality. I started to have a look this morn expecting eye watering prices and came across these beauties!!!!

£10.19 for the whole assembly, x2 + £8 postage from Germany = £28.38

Milners Junk - £64.80 for the equivalent inferior bits that probably wouldn't last half as long either.

It appears that they are now out of stock :sly You guys that got the heads up first appear to have cleared out :lol You lucky buggers!!! You know who you are.

I'll get these fitted when they come and do a comparison of how long they last compared to 1. the rose joints, 2. standard Milner tie rod ends.

I'll also try and snap some pictures of the rose joints and try to show how they have worn out too, I think I'll go back to some more expensive rose joints when I replace the upper arms for either Calmini ones or some fabricated ones.

A few little bits

I figured out what the issue was regarding the rubber trim around the gear levers. It turns out that the rubber is meant to be inverted downwards and wraps around a smaller rubber boot thus leaving no gap and deadening the road noise and engine :thumb2

Whilst the centre console was out, I thought I'd have a look at a job that's needed doing since I brought the truck, the 12v cigarette socket that clips into the rear of the console has broken about 3 of it's lugs off and no longer stays in the console, it just falls out and hangs on by it's wires, the inevitable has now happened and one of the wires has now come out of the connector :doh

I've decided that I'm going to fit one of these in it's place instead, it all seems to fit based on the measurement I took earlier

Also had a personal delivery this morning from a guy in Derby who dropped off these trim pieces that I'm going to need to trim and get painted before I fit. I've considered sending them off if I can find someone reasonable and see if they can fibreglass them with some extensions to cover the wheels that stick out, then send the back one's off :nenau

The truck is CRYING out for a wash and a valet so I'm going to do this tomorrow if I get a chance, I find when the truck is clean, you get a kick up your arse and want to get more jobs done on it :naughty

These look and feel really heavy duty compared to any other set I've had or seen, lets see how long they last :naughty

Look better than that rose joint stuff, having seen the set up with Alex and the fail with makeitfit I would not be using it, Rick

If the rose joints hadn't worn the way they did I would still continue to use them, it feels really strong up front with them on. In future I will be returning to them but need to swap my upper control arm for something sexy first and then going to invest in a set of expensive rose joints :naughty

For now though I'm going to use these I've heard and read good reviews about them, Elty approves too so that's good enough for me

I conclude the fail on my truck was simply down to spanner monkey error , namely me :doh
In use however I've had no issues with them and even on 35s they are working well.
I've chatted to Alex a few times since you fitted for him and all his issues have been due to his ridiculously high lift at the front, and no bump stops.
At last he's turned it down again :clap

Moog are a good quality ball joint:thumb2
Upper control arm project is slow going at the moment.
Need to spend a couple of hours with the draughtsman at work and my truck so we can get all the measurements and angles sorted.
As for rose jointed tie rods i'm pleased with how they feel and have had no issues with them binding but they have developed play fairly quickly on the ball.
A more expensive high angle rose joint is likely to give better service but have heard that rose joints will wear quicker than ball joints as they don't have the same shock absorbing properties.

Moog tie rods are on and tracking booked for tomorrow :thumb2

I'm not really happy though as although they are brand new, there still feels more play than my wore out rose joints, for the ultimate control it seems you can't get better than rose joints. I'm going to try and find some expensive high angle rose joints.

Also picked up a brand new clutch pedal cheap to replace mine rather than messing around with a new bush in mine which is non existent!!!!

Im sure i've seen the same ones in the UK for a bit cheaper just can't think where.

Need to do some working out of angles later, based on my torsion bar settings I'm going to need to jack the front up, let it sag and get the protractor out.

Not sure what the angle is of the current rose joints I'm using but those are good to 74 degrees apparently :nenau

Take a pic from ground level looking straight on one of your cv angles. Then we can compare to mine. You don't need massive front end ht with the Lokka. Far better keeping some room for drool 😄
