i wish all police forces would start nicking for snow on the roof as well as missing lights side lights or no lights in bad weather.

as a lorry driver with a high sisde rear box its impossible to reach the snow on the roof even with a brush.

its almost impossible to see vehicles when they dont have headlights on in bad weather silver cars are the worst

they dont think about being seen by everyone else

rant over

i would hazard a guess that any possible charge would be driving without due care and consideration..... as snow on the roof isnt considerate to any following vehicles ..... hardly very caring to the driver of the vehicle concerned too , as it may slide forwards and obstruct his vision ......should be shot on sight

talking about all this went past a police station in wakefeild and guess what

all but 2 cars in the police station had snow on the roof, and not the ones parked out the front as all of them had snow on the roof

so looks like one rule for one and another for the rest yet again

also spoke to a traffic cop here as they drive down our road and asked them if they would stop soem one for snow and they laughed and said "do you think we have time to stop people just for snow on their roof in this weather"

as i said i agree

but again dont expect any one to get a fine or points for not doing it, as that is just piss taking

now i can get on my high horse if i want

in my 11 years as a driver, i have never had an accident, never been done for speeding, never have been given a fine by a police officer, and i have never been given a single point on my licence, in this time i have only ever been pulled twice, once when i just got a car and it showed as not insured and 2nd when i had a bad earth that put an indicator on when i braked

well lucky old you 11 years clean driving or just never got caught??

i passed my test 1975 (35 years) in car motorbike and hgv
so far not got any points for anything never had a own fault accident but doesnt mean to say i never went over the speed limit or had a near miss.

but i try to be courtious to other road users which includes making sure my vehicle is road worthy and clear from snow.
some of the argumernts about snow landing on you roof whilst in a traffic jam is not the question in hand its cleaning off overnight settled snow which is the offence.

and reports do say most accidents are close to home(remember the seat belt adds) so being lazy and not clearing the snow JUST BECAUSE you nipping round the to the shop is like saying "oh my MOT is out of date just going to nip to the shop as its only round the corner"
just dont wash

er not it isnt mot out of date meant the vehicle isnt road worthy or deemed as such :lol

me leaving snow on the roof is the same as all the others that have removed the mud flaps on their car inconsiderate

now i am pretty sure spray from road is present more than snow

whats the saying now pot and kettle black or somthing

8 pages about snow on the roof of vehicles.WOW. Spare a thought for the Irish taxi driver parked waiting for a fare at Dublin Airport who had some snow fall from the roof of the new Terminal 2 building and damaged his windscreen. Who should have been up there with a brush? Maybe get somebody to hang from the skids on a helicopter and brush it off .LOL

yes and that doctors i was at yesterday wit the glass roof that has snow fall of fit causing some one a bad day

guess the doctors should have been up on the roof clearing that as well

this police car tried to give them a ticket for the snow so they passed the snow on

nope more proves the point you were making about NOT being practical to clear it .

A far more apt phrase is bee in bonnet :augie;)

ps, please get a life, if you time it right youll get double points at Tescos if they have them in ;)

also just thought arnt their lights under all that snow
now i could take that 2 ways

that fact that you meant it as a joke with the little simile but most likely the latter

the fact that you believe i have no life

the truth of the matter in question i have got a life, and to be fair wouldn't change it, from my time in the military to the time i sit here and type this post out.

Of course it was tongue in cheek.

Back on topic.............the fact the lights at several hundred quid a shot may be buried under there kind of suggests a heavy handed aproach to the snow removal may not be the best option. However most of those type of vehicles have alternative 360 degree options for blues anyway BECAUSE of the height.

My life picked up then slowed down after the military side of things. Firearms and extensive short notice foreign travel became optional but life also got boring in other respects ;)

ps I wasnt serious about tescos either, theyre out of stock and asdas cheaper anyway , have a look :D

well said :clap

Ive met many people who havent had a blameworthy or collected points and bloody well done is genuinely meant :thumb2

However as you have said it doesnt mean you havent sped or had a near miss and as soon as people claim that doesnt apply to them, all cred has gone.

Theyre usually the ones who whilst they havent had a bump they have seen loads in their mirrors and believe too many people sound their horns too often :lol:lol:lol:lol

see i didnt know better joined at 17 lol

actually since this came up i have asked a few other 4x4 owners weather they cleaned their roof off they said yes when on the motorway :doh

but the same thing when more than 2" was brushed off

not a personal thing but today the police are seen as nuisances due to the fact they just dont have the same power they once did and shrouded in so much red tape makes people just not respect them any more :doh

i personally would like the police to have the extra power they need to deal with these anti social lout's and the hooligans that make life so much harder

surley if you can get a fine and points on your ticket it must be against some law so is a MOT which is out of date it was a comparrison not an equal

it is not against the law ie their is now law covering it but it would be under due care and attention :thumbs

but their is no fine or points for it it was a hoax, that is unless the officer feels fit to issue it under above law

There most definitely are laws covering it all, its the email that was a hoax. Just because theres no statutory offence with the words "snow" and "roof" in the points to prove doesnt mean theres nothing to cover it.

Read Macbethiels post about RTCs then consider snow which could and should have been cleared being contributory to similar situations and tell me theres no offence.
