I'm looking forward to seeing the new look patrol.

I remember the mess it was in before

Got stuck in today, this is the only bit of rot on the OS sill already cut out

This is the sort of damage that prompted me to do the mod I am doing

Inner sill and reinforcing at body mount, that is coming off leaving a fairly flat sill all the way along

The section as it finished, very strong, I need to drill and thread two or three holes and screw in some threaded rod to jack the top edge out to get better contact with what is left of the original sill prior to welding, also as I am finding welding other than on the bench quite difficult now I am thinking of getting my mate in to do it for me, Rick

I get it now, nice one Rick :thumb2

Yeh a lot of welding to do there x 2 aswel, like you said made harder by not being in a convenient position! I welded my sills laid on my back, I don't ever want to do that again.

This is all I managed on the sill today, threaded in 4 bolts to jack the top out to improve contact with the original sill and trimmed it a bit more to put the weld nearer to the roll at the top, but did not attempt the weld as back playing up from yesterday, so took the front and rear ARB's off instead had to resort to the the mini angle grinder for all 4 drop links, Rick

I was going to cut a slot in a length of scaffold tube and stitch it on but it will still not be low enough, so having a rethink here, any suggestions? I have lots of 25 mm box that I can use but cannot see a way of making it "look nice" in retrospect think I should have used 150 mm wide plate, Rick

Rick I envy you and this work sir!!! One day maybe when my truck is running and I've sorted my tent out I could come down for a weekend and you could let me camp in your backyard and show me how to fabricate :naughty

Scotch wasn't it :nenau

Well had a result today, have had a pot sand blaster for a long time but finding enough air for it was always a problem, I have an air compressor with a twin unit that originally was to drive a road drill but engine blew up so tried a biggish electric motor but not very good, recently I scrapped a pressure washer with a motor that draws more than 14 amps and was going to scrap the motor as well but decided to keep it, just as well I did as in my desperation today, needing to clean up the rear body mount for welding but access was so poor the only way was blast it, so quickly grafted the motor on and found a belt, ran it up, it is brilliant, hovers between 60 and 75 psi while blasting, and goes into idle mode while still running so motor does not have to start on load, only had enough grit to do the mounting today, but this will make cleaning up so so much easier, sorry no pics as was not taking my camera in with all that sand flying about, will take some tomorrow if I get it back on the hoist but been called to attend gas safety checks at two eateries, Rick
