I decided that as this is a cosmetic repair rather than try and weld the panel in that I would use chemical bonding, here I have bonded reinforcing metal to the joins that matter cosmetically, I have used pop rivet holders as temporary fixings, I will be using more of these when fitting the wing tomorrow, Rick

Now that's a proper bumper, for, erm, bumping into things.

Misjudged the other day and hit a brick wall, there was a speed hump on a private car park junction as I came of the hump on full lock it put the car front further into the wall than I had allowed, BANG wall has good gouge, bumper virtually unmarked, it did stop the motor dead, so well pleased, Rick

New wing section on and awaiting adhesive cure, then fill the gaps rub it down and paint, made a sample of the sill section out of 6mm SS but only 75mm wide, it needs to be 100mm, Rick

Nah patience with such cosmetic things was never my forte, it will be grey and blue, and look no worse than the rest of the truck, but it will be RUST FREE, Rick

What chem bond did you use Rick ? I'll be interested to see how it handle the ruff stuff :thumbs
Looking good ;)

Just some gear I picked up at my local factors, it says "Simply PU sealant and adhesive" I did a test sample last week and it bonds really well had to use a screwdriver to lever the two parts apart, Rick

Finished the wing off over the W/E not perfect but no point it is a 20 odd year old motor, but it is solid and rust free, I will patch the near side as it is nothing like as bad, rather than spend another £130 on a repair panel that only part will be used, Rick

Oh I am loving my truck in this heat wave, air con luxury, here is my latest addition, just a couple of mag pick up tools but lend themselves as temp markers, until I can come up with another solution, problem is been so busy with fridge/freezer problems, should of had today free but worked all day so now off road on Sunday is looking doubtful, unless a sexy young lady volunteers to be my winch bitch, then I will make the effort, Rick

Well it is a Slindon meet tomorrow but I need to clear up the yard, and as Ali is at £1000 a tonne at the moment and I have just cut tyres off of 20 odd rims plus loads of other Ali scrap it is more important to get ready for a scrap run so that is my job for tomorrow, plus a good load of brass, sadly the next meet coincides with the Wales meet so Slindon or Wales? it has to be Wales, Rick

Deffo get that Ali weighed in Rick, I took some truck batteries the other day for work, big buggers those are!!
Wales p&p promises to be good mate, and if it rains you'll even have some mud, which reminds me I need to make a rad guard!

Use a couple of small electric ariels on the bumper, press a button and up they go :thumb2

Now this I like, I will get hunting, Rick

Cannot find a unit small enough, so having just found some 15mm S/S tube think I will weld on a couple of permanent ones with balls on the top, and anyway cannot be faffing with buttons in the instant that I find a tight turn cos some twat has parked on a corner, had I been coming the other way my bumper may well have left its mark, as it was it would have been my rear wing so he was lucky, Rick

Gave my troll a pair of balls today

Far too hot to do much today, so made up a couple of bits of 15mm S/S tube with balls on the top, as one was Ali and the other S/S they had different finish so decided to paint them nice metallic blue, makes tight parking so much easier, Rick
