    Black smoke on acceleration

    Check your coolant levels.

The other thing is if your water pump is leaking then when the motor cools down it doesn't draws the water back into the system due to vacuum leak caused by the water pump leak if you get what I mean ;)

    Chassis front off!

Its not chassis as such but is structural for impact, removing that will weaken the integrity of the chassis and effect of impact would not be nice.

    strong smell of petrol

Check the over flow line at the filler cap. Take the cap off and you should see a small pipe sticking up and have a look where it goes underneath and back into the tank. You might need to take the back wheel off to follow the line, it might have come off somewhere or is rotten. Had you just...

    Front hubs

Once you have unlocked the manual hubs they are unlocked no need to back up.(unless they are sticking, poor maintenance lack of grease) Some people get confused between manuals and autos. Only the autos need backing up as they are spring / tension loaded on forward movement, that's why they...

    Thermostat housing...

Undo the radiator, heater hoses (use a container to catch the coolant) and then undo the 3 bolts holding down the housing. Be careful not to spill the coolant over paint work. Once the 3 bolts have been removed give the thermostat housing a twist sideways to free it from the gasket and the main...
