o/d probably part of same problem but as its electrical worth checking fuse just in case...

I have the problem of sticking in low gear when moving off from after stopping, have to switch off the electrics and then back on then away we go.
Lucky I have a turbo timer that lets the motor still run ;)

No pattern goes for months then bingo you are stuck in 1st gear trying to cross the intersection a bit hairy to say the least.

Apparently it's the speed sensor on top of gear box and to replace it involves dropping the auto down cutting the wiring loom replace the sensor and solder wires back together.
The sensor has a wiring loom that disappears into the unknown depths of the vehicle hence the cutting of the wires is easier.

anyone know what the two sensors on drivers side of gearbox are for ?anyone got a wiring diagram for auto?

have located a superb down load for r20 nissans -total pdf downloads for all diagnostics etc covers all aspects including superb in detail scematic wiring diagrams and identification of all circuts layouts etc etc

www.freeebooks.net yes has 3 es

have learnt that all solenoids are inside auto box.

also that the throttle position sensor can affect the o/d comming in ....looks like brake light switch - throttle pedal touches at the top .-hope this may help omeone in the future

thanks guys

ps when get to site type nissan r20 in search box at top rhd side of page
