Had another wirebrush session and found a rotten arb bracket so cut it out and welded in a new one made from 50x90 box. Poly bushes done, bolted to the axle and axle bolted to the truck. Filled the diff with 2.8ltrs of limited slip oil. The axle came with the handbrake cables and abs sensors attached. Got everything connected and made the brake lines. Filled the brake reservoir and opened the bleed nipples and let them run until the level got to minimum and topped up. The battery had been disconnected since yesterday so reconnected and started it up. No abs warning lights stayed on which is a result cos I tried to remove the one from my holed axle and they're stuck fast. Any ideas how to remove them without breaking as someone might be glad of them.
Wheels on and out in the sunshine.

Just need to make a couple of brackets up to hold the brake pipes in place.

Next will be the body lift and then I can properly attack the chassis. It's grotty in several places. :thumb2

The axle is a direct replacement for the Elcheapo Gaylord who would want one rear diffs like er banshee has :lol:lol for the auto anyway. I measured the length of diff and it was between 10 and 15mm longer and I was concerned the prop would be too long, but sliding the prop all the way forward still gave me a good gap.

I didn't get time to replace the front diff so as long as I don't use 4wd it'll be ok:naughty

6 mile to get home through the city so I haven't had a good run yet.

Nice job all round Ian, do not worry about the front diff being different ratio, if you need it, it will be on slippy stuff anyway, and even if on tarmac you cannot break anything contrary to popular opinion, Rick

Cheers Rick. :thumbs

+1 for a Lokka.

Cracking bit of kit, I'll be sticking one in Bess once funds allow :thumbs

So. If I had time I would have nipped out and bought a lokka........ but I didn't so I just swapped front diffs. I done no wire brushing or painting just full on mechanical madness. I can't believe how many nuts and bolts i had to remove to get the diff out! Two of which I had to knock through and cut the heads off.
Anyway all done and all good.

I didn't even have any hedge bolts left over :lol

I now have a perfectly good front diff for a 3ltr auto if anyone needs one:naughty

If it had been mine I would have run it without the front diff while waiting for the Lokka, then once that was sorted put it back in, Rick

I know what I'm doing now Rick. It'll come out in a jiffy :D
I need to make sure it's a good diff before pulling it apart.
Fitting a lokka is further down the list too. :thumb2
