This is what I call an update!
The old gearbox doen't even look that bad like you would expect.

I was thinking the same, other than the clumps of mud I had to pull off it from laning, it looked in fairly good nick!!

The grease that was all over the metal scrap had dried out unsurprisingly in the garage whilst I was at work yesterday, when I got home in the evening I noticed that among what looks like bearing case, there is also a tooth in there from one of the shafts

Might try and squirrel some time outside tonight after I've put a planter up on the shed for the girlfriend and also a birdbox.

Last night I mated the transfer box to the gearbox and tigersealed the sh*t out of it for waterproofing purposes and it's set beautifully and the excess has been shaved from around the edge with a Stanley blade.

I'll get to spraying it tonight hopefully :naughty

As promised I grabbed a little time last night and managed to get the box sprayed and started to fit some goodies.

I've cleaned the box up with a wire brush in the drill and then wiped clean with industrial cleaning cloths before spraying with VHT Black paint :thumb2

Will finish off adding the last touches when I get home later and then might see if any of my mates are free to help me wrestle it back in :thumbs

Looking good mate:thumb2:thumb2
Soon be back up and running again :thumbs

Clutch is bled and gearbox + transfer box overfilled with oil

Half a day tomorrow as usual so will get tightening and adjusting the torsion bars, rear propshaft on, wheels on, tighten the front diff flange in hope it will stop the fluid leak and then the fire up and road test.

Wish me luck :thumb2

With a breaker in place at the moment being stripped alive for all of it's goodies, I've decided to hang onto this :naughty

This is an earlier, inner wing style screen wash reservoir that I'll be fitting and replacing mine which will then free me up some space for a 2nd battery at some point and a split charge system :naughty

I've got the space once I re route the snorkel pipework as mine has that one fitted under the drivers side wing:thumb2
No more jump start banshee after a night in hotel du banche with the second battery fitted:lol

If you're running 35s now Banshee , you'll need plenty more of those water bottles. Full flex 35s on mine will tear the bottom off them 😒

Tyre Choices

Terrance needs a new set of boots, amongst a lot of other things, hence why I've just broken Toshi's truck for parts and spares.

I have really enjoyed being on 35" Maxxis Treppadors, I'm on a 3" body lift and 2" spring lift with torsions adjusted to suit. When I brought the tyres, they were very cheap and were only ever meant to be a trial set to work out how much cutting I was likely to need. They only had 5-6mm of tread when I fitted them.

I've been quite lucky in terms of the amount of cutting I've needed to do and to be honest they fit quite nicely into the arches still but I was getting minor rubbing. As such, I've decided that I might drop back down to 33" tyres. Maybe something in between 33" & 35" like those Maltesta's that BigBunny had on his blue one before he turned into a Lycra Lout!!!

I've noticed that Charles at JCS in Derby where I had my steels from has a very good deal on at the moment on a set of 4 Toyo Open Country Mud Terrains

The reviews on them seem great and they appear to be the same tread pattern as Cooper STT Pro's which I have also had in 33 and were great.

Has anyone had any first hand experience with this model of tyre specifically? The only downsides I have heard about these from looking at reviews online is that they can get a little noisy when they wear low.

Please discuss

Great minds and all that.
I was also looking at the toyo open country muds for my next set as i'm going to be ready for some in the new year.
reviews seem good for them,as for tyre noise:lol:lol:lol:lol
this comment always makes me chuckle to myself when talking about big block pattern mud tyres.
Road tyres is the answer to that one.

Recovery Lights

Was given this 247 Lighting Recovery Light to go on the truck last weekend. It had been ordered for a vehicle at my mates work and was no longer needed so sat dormant under an out of action ramp. They were having a clear out and my mate managed to nab this for me.

Quick dust off with a microfibre and peeled all of the protective film off it that was all covered in brake dust and it was ready to go. It's super super bright and weighs 18kg!!!
