I would like to fit that mk4 steering wheel to my mk3 Terrano... I don't know if it fits or not? :nenau

I'd sell you my old one but I've promised it to MadMark now as his is way worse than mine was

Flip Key Conversion - AGAIN

The old key I had was getting a bit old and battered and wasn't working right so I brought another case and transferred all the gubbins over again as I have been using my spare key which really hurts my thigh when it jabs me in my leg :lol

Rear Interior Revamp

Time has gone on since I last did the interior of the back of the car, the plastics I sprayed black have inevitably all flaked and I wasn't happy just having the black recesses in the windows inside as it looked boring so the weekend I decided to get it all out again and do some touching up again.

I'm still missing some rear plastics from the last time I had them all out, I'm currently sourcing these, and once they are all here I will be dying them all black with a special spray that actually stains or dyes the plastic black rather than leaving an layer on the top that will flake over time or if it's touched. It's called Brillo Vinyl Dye, have a look at some of the testimonials and projects, the Panasonic Speakers are fantastic :thumbs

http://www.vinyldye.co.uk/Brillo-Vinyl-Dye-Paint-Plastic-Leather-Material

I've re-done the roof lining again as that had marks in places from where objects had grazed it when loading the rear (I keep forgetting it's a van :doh )

Drying in the sun, the best thing about spraying that is no matter how blotchy you get it, when it's dry it always dries 1 colour it looks awesome

I found some old Ordnance Survey maps of nice areas and decided that I was going to stick them in the window recesses in the back as I wasn't keen on the plain black and the surface was very uneven too. I made some paper templates first, which I have kept in case anybody else would like to do the same.

Then I cut round the maps and used spray adhesive to stick them on as straight as I could, the rough edges wont matter as when the plastics are back on they will all be covered.

I've done all 4 now but will do pictures of the whole of the rear finished when it's all back in the car

Whilst all of the roof lining etc is out the way I thought I'd also fix my wobbly roof bar and install some heavy duty cable glands in the roof as at the minute my rear worklight cable is just shut in the back door and I haven't even wired up my spotlights yet :doh

Going to use these Skintop ones that are supposedly explosion proof from what their website says :thumb2

The roof bars are not going to be so easy :( I was disgusted at the bodge job that Nissan had done when installing the roof rails and I'm sure you will agree

What do you guys think I should do here, they are loose and I have no access to them and I'm worried one is going to start leaking water in soon

New Filter Setup has arrived

New Filter setup has been delivered today from Biotuning

Its a Universal Bosch Filter Head with what is knows as an Eckes VW Oil Cooler that gets sandwiched in between the filter head and the filter with a specially adapted thread, connects to the heater hoses same as my heat exchanger does currently and warms the fuel up at the filter too :naughty :naughty

This vehicle will soon be BioProof as soon as I've done the leak off's in this crazy crazy strong plastic tubing I've got on order, then eventaully pump will come off as I'll kill it and the new one will go in that I will be fitting HD seals to that are also BioProof to swelling

If you aint fitting parts, you aint trying hard enough!!!!! :augie

I'm a bit old school if she needs a drink it gets one dispite how cold or warm it is. I just cant be arsed with all the fath to be honest. But life would be very baoring if we were all the same. Good work tho bud

It would be very boring and I can't have you all sharing my fun.

I'm just trying to give the finger up really to the veg haters who are always raining on my parade, I'm just trying to prove that you can run 100% Oil all year round reliably and saving me an absolute fortune at the same time

Does anybody have any ideas on what I should do with the roof bars?

I'm thinking of getting a circular hole cutter in the drill and making more room to work, then replace the nasty rivets that are currently there and loose? :nenau

what size are the rivnuts?
i can get some from work for you if you want to replace them.:thumb2

If its just rivnuts working loose can't you just replace them with a washer and a nyloc nut while the headlining is down.
IF you get the proper rivnut applicator you could retighten them or this can be done by screwing a nut & bolt in from the top then hold the bolt with a spanner while tightening the nut.

Presumably it was a Nissan dealer that fitted the roof bars with rivnuts as an optional extra & were too lazy to remove headlining.

rivnuts are the standard fitment that nissan use for the roof rails.
these do look like an after thought though as mine are nice and tidy.
have got a rivnut gun if you want to have a look at them on saturday zac:thumb2

That's a good shout actually pal :thumb2

The plastics and headlining will all be out anyway still so easy access :naughty

What measurements do you need from them?

Yep, replacement does seem to be the next step I think, just hoping I have the clearance.

Love the avatar mate :naughty

Just the bolt size is all I need, I would guess at m6.
I will grab a selection of rivnuts :thumb2

Roof rails will have to be removed which ever way you want to attack it.

Super strong steering job

My 1000 miles around Scotland on some of the best and some of the worst roads I've ever driven followed straight after with a Weekend of off roading in Wiltshire was enough to properly kill off my original steering setup.

Luckily I had a spare drag link, idler arm and tie rods all attached still that I dropped off the Maverick when it was scrapped as it was only a few months old. I've slapped that on and the Terrano is back to acceptable steering again so I though why not get the SUPER STRONG STEERING JOB done :thumb2

It's about time as a few member have done this now and I can't afford not to with the size tyres I'm running.

So to start I'm going to be using my old drag link as this needs to be modified to take some bushes for the rose joints to go through.

This is my 2nd steering box from a 98' scrapper, I've started to drain it today and take apart, I've also been marking it up to cut it, I'm absolutely terrified guys as I'm a bit sloppy when it comes to stuff like this and I've only got 1 decent pic from Alex and one off Elty as to how it needs to be cut so wish me luck.

IMG_20160618_231140.jpg

The Pitman Arm that is currently on the box is the one I had to cut through to remove it from the doner vehicle as I was against the clock. This is held on with a 41mm nut, I went into my local motor facts and when I asked him for one his response was, "bloody hell you working on a bus?" :lol :lol

I told him what it was for and he came outside as he still didn't believe me, he then laughed and said, good luck getting that off if the box is off the car :( then sold me this for £12

IMG_20160615_WA0011.jpg

I got the box in the vice and used a 4ft breaker bar with a 6ft box of galvanised steel over it, heaved up a few times lifting the bench as I went and then with a crack, it gave way!!!! :naughty :naughty

I then loosened the top 17mm nut on the box and spun it a few times which exposed some splines at the pitman arm end, I did this so i could slide the protective boot up without damaging it in order to hammer off the arm tomorrow as I've left it to soak tonight in some penetrating fluid

I'll update tomorrow hopefully with pictures of a not too butchered steering box I hope :bow

wish you luck getting that drop arm off, last one I did off motor was on an anvil with a sledge hammer and heat, Rick

You should be fine with it mate :thumb2
I had no special tools when I did mine and it was well seized on.
Warmed it up with a little butane torch then got a solid bar and fed it through the engine bay onto the top of arm.
A couple of smacks with the lump hammer and off it came.
