whilst i agree with the fact it represents a danger to you and other motorists i still cant help think that all of the energy and resources that the police have are pointed slighty in the wrong direction ie the easy target motorist. I like many others wonder when something is going to be done about the rise in theft from work place and home all for these scrotes to be caught prosecuted then let off whats the point ? chop their hands off i say

Good point but you sort of answer your own question within itself. if its spend 20 minutes issuing a ticket which will hopefully persuade you to clear the snow next time or hours clearing up after an RTC including delivering death messages I know which I see as the best use of time.

In this case prevention rather than cure and clean up will leave more time to chase crims.

Dont forget as well the police do not let off burglars.

chop their hands off i say, :doh you cant say that on here, someone will slap you :lol

i agree with you though, :thumb2

even driving slow you can still leave a cloud of snow for the driver behind to navigate through , even if he drives at a reasonable and safe distance behind .... it sort of hangs in the air

oh look its snowing whats these things on the windscreen for :lol:lol:lol

oh dear its raining and that person in front dont have any mudflaps and now i cant see :augie:augie:augie

dont most of them have ladders at the back lol

mind doesn't, it's a fibre glass roof, although some do have them but for show i suspect, motor-homes are different. :thumb2

as youve already said climbing in ice is dangerous :thumbsso yes but on this occasion its nothing more than an ornament :D

but they would expect me to do it if i didnt have a brush handy or i have stopped at a service station over night

i really cant belive that so many people are happy to have a fine given to them and points because they parked out side a shop and the snow has some how miraculously landed on the roof

with the way the snow has been falling in some areas you could have 6" of it on your roof stuck in traffic, so you then have to get out your car as you cant let that snow fall on the bonnet of the car behind

always clean mine off, hey not to concours condition , but broom which stays
in car, in case need to do it again, goes back and forth across roof, also nice
pile on rear spare, off bonnet head and tail lights. then start car, then use
hand brush and or ice scraper to clean screens and side windows.

ok shouldnt start car dont always but is at top of dead end cul de sac so
nobody about, often if start car put transfer in neutral, so technically
disabled car like would be running a PTO etc. like to see theives face when
no gears then broom handle up his nose....

guess on trucks and buses cant do it but they tend not to have flattish?
bonnets that would catch any sudden braking snow drift coming off their
roof and stop forward vision.

saw cars and 4xs yesterday, mobile snow drifts, literally only front screen
cleaned seemingly by wipers alone. crazy considering under snow wipers
could have been frozen solid too, as mine were stuck by ice.

what is worse, following a lorry when it's pouring down, if you leave 100yrd visibility is bad, how do we get out of that one, without breaking the law??

sorry what a ******* load of bollox

so not only do i have to make sure i can see but i have to gt a step ladder out the house scrap the roof and put it back away

what a ******* con cant they find another way of earning a wage other than pissing people off that pay ******* tax so they got a ******* job:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

what gets me is the poor officer that has to issue this bollox is gonna get the stick and it aint fair

Totally disagree with you there :nono

An MOT states clear vision

So how can you justyfy bone idle lazyness to just get in & go with a quick wipe over

:question

All you need to do is get a broom as said by "briggie" :thumbs :clap to clear all the snow off whilst ya engine is running & away you go.!

Follow a lorry for example & youll soon change ya mind when a lump of solid ice comes off & goes through ya screen which ive seen my self.!

People who dont clear there cars of the snow & or frost should be finned.!

People who abandon there cars should get them clamped or towed as all it does is add to the carnage :banghead

So what youre saying is that the tickets are handed out without due consideration of conditions and no use of discretion?

As I said before little rascally rebels are dead easy to spot :naughty

rant post

Cant Be arsed to look for the rant post so I will add it on here

1, what pisses me off at the moment is people who drive around with snow on their roof... very inconsiderate,

2 people who abandon their cars due to poor preparation prior to starting their journey,

Thats it for now but I guess someone will be along soon who pisses me off even more

cant leave your engine running or you will get a fine and points :doh

all windows are clear in my car including wing mirrors and back window and spare so full field of vision:thumbs, i aint got a sunroof so i dont look through that :lol

my windscreen wipers work and so does my washers just incase that twit in front aint got mud flaps on

now by popping out i mean go to tesco's which is all of half a mile from my door

how many people use warm water to defrost their windscreen which then turns to ice as they drive so they cant see :doh

so why are lorry drivers exemt from this as the snow on the top of the rig will hold alot more than mine they could have a drive through brush thing :augie

There are no exemptions

Its down to the driver who is in charge of the vehicle to make sure the vehicle is legal to be on the road...
Before we leave our yard we clean a minimum of 2 foot off the back of the box & i personally wont pull out of the yard until all the snow is off the cab.!

Again, its down to the driver.!

You wouldn't get out of your bath or shower & get dressed without drying...

well said :clap:clap

cause they are they have to be seen doing something rather than catching people make others lives a misery

Personally speaking, anyone who makes dangerous road conditions more dangerous through sheer laziness is making my life a misery

Karl Are you really saying you expect a hgv driver to get on the roof of his trailer and clean off the snow, it aint that they are exempt from anything it just goes to show how much notice you take of the hgvs around your neck of the wood as a lot of trailers now have curtainside material used for a roof that rolls back or are made from 1/4 inch fibreglass roll material that would give way and youd come crashing down inside the trailer, and they are also anything from 11 ft to 14ft 6 high,

why dont you see that its commonsense and to your advantage to clean you roof as if you have a chap on a motorbike behind you he could be killed, simply by YOUR SNOW blowing onto him, now dont say hes to close as it lingers for yrds when your following someone. now he aint got any windows or wipers or for that matter a roof to clean
