Hope the moggy gets better soon mate, me and the misses can't wait to get one when we buy our own place

Thank You. :)

Poor lad has just been diagnosed with diabetes and he's not taken too well to being injected twice daily! :(

Bit fancy for my tastes but looking good none the less bud! :thumb2

Hope puss gets better, I'd be lost without my wee girl.

They are a bit, but my hope is that they will be super clear to read... I really didn't want extra Pods in plain view and my last Boost Gauge was difficult to read at a glance.

Thanks for all the well wishes for the cat! :thumb2

I'd be lost without him too. He has outlasted all the girlfriends! HA HA HA!

Brand new MOT today...

A Clean slate for the rest of the year! :augie

So setting up my fancy pants gauges turned into the Hokey Cokey, with my Pioneer Head unit doing all the in and out!

I got an image to my TV screen when I was testing, I also got a picture from 3 other HDMI devices on to my head unit.

On reading up about the old 'HDMI Handshake' I decided to try a multitude of different HDMI cables, one costing more than I care to admit... (I did take it back tho, once it didn't suit my purpose!)

Once non of the above worked, I contacted Pioneer's help desk who informed me that the HDMI input on my device was really only designed to work with Android and IOS based smartphones... Any other device was a bonus!

So that all devices except the one I want to work! :doh

I get the feeling I may of already typed this.... So onwards to 'Plan B'

"A plan so cunning you could stick a tail on it and call it a fox" :naughty

Plan B

I have decided to allow the gauge unit to share a screen with what will be my 'Carputer'

The task of this device will be to allow me access my 1Tb Hard Drive full of music.... A task that head units are not up to! I will be using a Raspberry Pi device and the screen will have the functionality of an iPod.

Having said that I will need a Touch Screen....

And here it is!

Right... Enough about the Carputer for now. That's a different project all together!

Back to my gauges... I was keen to make sure the unit worked with this screen.

That done, I need to mount it.

I toiled with a few mounting ideas, in the sun visor and alike, but felt that it would obscure my view on what is already a 'letter box' like windscreen.

I decided that I would make a dash pod for it to sit in...

What your about to see is a very rough 'Proof Of Concept' thrown together in under 5 minutes to test size and shape.... Be kind! :bow

The bottom will be contoured to match the dash shape as best as I can and the sloped angles are to minimise its how much of the front left road it blocks out. (Turns out, non at all... Almost lines up with the bonnet corner from where I'm sitting! :clap)

In time, this will be remade, smoothed out and either.... Covered in vinyl or I will have plastic Vac formed over the top. (It's more likely to be the vinyl option!)

All good stuff an all but is that a L**d R***r watch you're wearing?
I'm sure I can see oil running out of it! :lol

Seriously though. Should look mighty fine when finished :clap

That is some seriously techy stuff there Jay.
Hats off to ya!:thumb2

Just an idea....once you've smoothed off the dash pod, you could prime and Raptor spray coat it.

Hi mate,

Really enjoying this thread :thumb2

As a thought is that screen able to cope with the temperatures generated from a hot summers day in such an exposed position on the dash. Are you going to add any vents to the housing?

A great point... One I was thinking about.

Vents was one idea, but also I thought of a material you can buy called Insul-Bright. It's used inside oven gloves, so I thought I could add a layer of that inside?
