Mines also dry at the min but waiting for the water pump to spring a leak:augie & know the power steering cooler pipes are about to get pin holes in them under the mounts so they'll be getting cut & sleeved once they start to leak

Just the Welsh that have leeks :augie:augie:lol

Just cured my oil leak. Turns out it was worn threads on the sump plug. Bought a new one on fleabay with a magnet. No oil on the drive, magic!

Both mine are fine too. I thought it was landies that have the leaks:augie

A landy that has no oil leaks is a landy without any oil...:doh

My 19 year old Mav has no oil leaks:nenau

It once dropped one drop from the rear drive shaft, but the molyslip I put in stopped that, as another feature was it reconditioned the seals.

thanks, its definitely not my sump plug, oil leaks down the sump on the opposite side to the plug - I just cant see from where though im starting to suspect its coming out of the sump where it meets the engine somewhere - that said, the bolts are tight so maybe the gasket has failed??

I have a leaky lower crankshaft oil seal

I've heard that's a nightmarish job

I think you have to remove the gearbox and you can get to it there, well you can on some cars.

He's been getting oil showing around the rear of the engine, so it sounds like the rear seal.

the oil is more on the drivers side - ends up at the back though presumably when driving.

hi guys, took another look today after doing a couple of miles driving.

I noticed the leak seems to be concentrated as in the photos - near the starter motor area and I noticed that maybe its coolant or even fuel (mixing with oil) or both. Can anyone see anything familiar in the photos/videos?

I gave that entire area a good clean today, and so will have a quick drive again tomorrow to see if its any clearer where the leak is.

I don't seem to be losing oil or coolant, if that helps!?

also, I noticed that the leak is dripping onto the drive shaft, and this is flicking the mess everywhere, thus confusing matters...!

also, I did tighten up one last bolt on the leaky side on the oil sump...

get some kitchen roll lightly dab a few places, then have a look, have a smell, that should help to identify the fluid, if black and dark, engine oil, if clear and blue/green, coolant, if oily but transparent and smelly, gear oil, if oily transparent and smells like diesel, then it's probably diesel.

I know it is obvious, but you need to eliminate something.:nenau

If the fluid levels aren't dropping, with all that loss then it's probably diesel, as you have a lot of that...:doh

I'd get under there when it's cold and give it a damn good wash, obviously you'll get filthy, then lay under there with as much light as possible and get someone to start it and wait it out.

ive given it a good wash today, its not sparkling but its not far off!

I have a good look at the various fluids. Its weird because on some components I could see a green fluid, didn't smell of much. Other fluids seemed a bit like diesel but had mixed with oil (there is a lot of left over oil down there either from a current leak or an old leak that hasn't been cleaned up.

I did noticed the pump pipes wet and maybe a little wet around some of the injectors so I cleaned that all up again, and used my air compressor to dry up everything.

I will start it up tomorrow and observe, its really confusing me now!!

ok, the plot thickens. Either the leak ISNT an oil leak and is in fact a fuel leak -

https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=1D2955C2260C0C35!1503&authkey=!AEW_0nT2gKpzCCc&ithint=folder,

or I have both. Seems to me though, that the fuel is leaking form the leak off pipes, especially number two injector, down the gaps towards the oil sump, mixing with oil and gunk along the way...

how can I fix the pipes? some don't have clips, all seem loose though took a good tug to pull off. definitely wet with diesel, and defiantly leaking down in the area of investigation..

I have some spare rubber pipe from my MAV that fits, think its from the EGR, is that suitable, and do I need a clip on there too or cable tie??

Don't forget as he fluid runs down the the block it will likely get filthy, so when you wipe don't automatically assume its engine oil :thumb2

precisely, I am hoping I have been making this mistake and it is as you say, dirty diesel! We will see though, I wont be 100% convinced until I have driven it a few mile and its leak free at the sump...!

I have replaced all the leak off pipes with new ones, those that weren't leaking were very brittle and dry, injectors two, three and four were all leaking.
