The smell of Gearbox oil

Well what can i say,finally cleared the garage out,moved the engine hoist into position ready for removal,now before i started i had a good look around the bottom of the engine then a round the top and guess what n04 injector leak back pipe the one that's not used the rubber plug was split leaking diesel down the side of the engine replaced the plug all good,before anyone says did i not smell the diesel,no i did not but it had been in my van for over two years before i pumped it into the terrano

Glad it's sorted!!! Where did you get your plug from mate?

Leak was fuel in the end then - good news mate!

Pleased it turned out to be something fairly easy to fix.
I tend to think the worse if I get a vehicle problem its the Armageddon Culture that lies in the corners of our minds.

Quite recently I was told my air con was leaking as there was dye all down one of the pipes.
The Guy who did my suspension work told me about it so I got a new set of seals. He realised that the compressor would have to come off to access the pipes and ran out of time and we agreed to fix the air con on another date.

I asked if the dye could have been old staining as the air con still appeared to be working. Yes it could be an old stain as people do not generally clean it off after fixing a leak. Still works as good as ever - I now have a seal kit on the shelf for when it does fail.
