Trust me, a couple of years back now I sat in the van and watched the machine in action, Fonts f~~k it up, spacing confuses the hell out of it :D if it doesnt recognise it as anything registered you'll probably get pulled anyway.

On the troll there its would be a 50/50 and depends on which system whether the space after 4 digits would upset it

Is this thread not supposed to be about Larson buying another car, I merely pointed out that I thought £4k was a lot to pay for an S plate Disco with an oil leak when I only paid £2750 for my Trol of the same year.
I chose to tamper with the spacing on my number plate, I no its not legal and dont need it to be pointed out to me.
Its the chance I take and should Mr Plod decide to pull me for it then thats my problem.
Larson i'm sorry that your thread has been hijacked, good luck in your search for a car.
Just make sure it has legal plates when you post pics:naughty

why not drive 22 miles and have a look at THIS....

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...an/postcode/hx28lb/page/1/radius/30?logcode=p

Its newer, I'm guessing less miles cos the other ad doesn't even state mileage, and from a car dealer not a motorbike shop....

WOW

how touchy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made the ridiculous presumption the picture was there to look at :doh

Yes the thread started off about buying a car and your point was valid, but like all good conversations developed and diversified as many threads do. If you have a valid point to make on topic do so and if it is valid the conversation will go back that way. simples.

Don't you find thats the same when youre sitting around with a group of mates................................................ or maybe not :augie

that last autotrader link, I like that as well, looks a good car and a good ad, a smart phone call first should determine if the 22 mile trip is worth it.

Does look decent Larson, why not give em a ring and start talking money to get the feel if its worth the trip :thumb2 done that before :augie

i phoned and hes going to do a hpi check for me and hes down from £4k to £3800 but i want more off yet. theres 4 month tax and a long mot he recons... are these belt/chain or magic driven... i think i prefer magic..

why do people do that .... " he's going to hpi it for me"

ask yourself what is the point of having an hpi done ffs

its to provide YOU the applicant with the legal and insurance status of the vehicle.
and provide you with an insurance against any possible claims or legal issues of the vehicles ownership

however if HE is getting the hpi done you are not the applicant.

and you have nothing

ooooops off topic:doh

fair point but also, I often think an HPI isnt worth it on an old car, you know what i mean?

I think they are chain driven Larson....but I've got to say, you're setting yourself up to fall here. Given their relative scarcity, the chances of finding ANY Patrol within 10 miles of your house is slim to start off. :doh

The chances of finding one for sale are slimmer.:doh:doh

The chances of finding one for sale within your budget are even slimmer...:doh:doh:doh

And the chances of finding one for sale, within your budget and in good nick - within 10 miles of your house - are Rizla-thin I'd say.:doh:doh:doh:doh

I mean an extra 12 miles for a car that is clearly newer, cheaper, in better condition and being sold by a garage rather than a motorbike dealer who thinks hes doing you a favour getting you an HPI....:doh:doh:doh:doh:doh

Seriously, I think you're mad....today I've done just under 200 miles looking at three cars; two were dogs, the third a belter...over-spec and under budget so job done......it isn't gonna come to you on a plate and if it does, its going to be a turkey! LOL

Seriously.....get out there, don't waste your money on the first piece of tat just cos its down the road.....rant over.

Oh and if that doesn't convince you, two words for you.....Briggies Truck.

Is any? depends on what you want to spend and what you can or want to end up with. Personally I always work on paying trade to lower retail and then spending up to whatever level the car is say A1 so on the day I do the sums I could get my money back. Briggies car has gone way over that . Thats always my nightmare, it has gone wrong in the past, I try to make sure it wont again.

For the distance, price and willingness to take p ex I'd already have been to see this one http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...an/postcode/hx28lb/page/1/radius/30?logcode=p

Just checked on the map, I did round trips of between 8 miles and (where my T2 came from) 48miles to find one.

The jeep was 16 miles away ;)

Go for it get those miles racking up. if youre as bad with money as you say and you limit your choice by miles youll end up buying one because its not as bad as the rest rather than because its good.
