Honda Jazz, ultra reliable, good on fuel, nice to drive, coverts into a van with the back seats folded, good build quality. :thumb2

Hondas are expensive to maintain though and dmf

I used to work for honda too

So we went to look at a silver Ford KA, 2 miles away, just for size, advertised for £295

When we arrived it was a family run business from home, I was expecting a bag of nails... Actually the more we looked at this car we realised it was a steal, drove spot on, no rust, checked all mot history and advisories ect ect.

In the end we ended up buying it, he delivered it to our home when we rang up and I dropped him back :lol

I cant believe how tidy it is :thumbs

Tiny dot under the door where it has been caught.

Even engine is quite tidy, 69,000 miles, sounds quite tappety but just run it until it blows up :lol

If it's tappety adjust the tappets then as it's an OHV engine like the T2 is:augie it's prob not had the tappets done in years:doh 4 bolts & the rocker cover is off IIRC you'll need a 11mm spanner & flat screwdriver only a 10 minute job to do them:thumbs looks a tidy motor:thumb2

A few suggested to me they are all tappety, waste of time adjusting as they will be back the same in another week.

The valve gear does wear but both of mine weren't really tappety as I adjusted them every 12k as Mr Ford recommends:thumb2 most people don't know how to do tappets hence they say leave them:doh adjust them right performance & MPG can go up so worth the 10 mins it takes to do them & it'll give you some practise for when you need to do the T2 ones:augie
Oh don't put 5w30 oil in it 10w40 is much better for these engines as they have been around since the 60's

Im chuffed we got this so cheap, are tappets effectively valve clearances? Using a feeler gauge? Like for motorbikes? :nenau

The car does have one issue seems to have an intermittent erratic idle, it will start to hunt when it feels like it. At first I suspected plugs coil or leads but infact seems very common on these, leading to a dealer visit to "re flash something" or a broken vacuum hose or a few other issues.

I should mention it drives flawlessly, the fix will be an easy one.

Oh TPS was the third, it's 13 quid for a sensor :lol

Yes loads of info on net & youtube on it:thumbs would you let your bike engine have the wrong valve clearance ? don't think you would they are dead easy to do

Hmm, perhaps I can find someone who will do it for cheap then. I take it a new gasket is needed after? :thumb2

Yes stick a new gasket on as they often can leak after time anyway. Get someone to do it:eek::eek: you can manage it Alex if not get the Mrs to do it as it's her car:lol

A guy at work had the issue with his idle on his fiesta and it turned out to be a split vac hose.
Nice cheap and easy fix :thumb2

Vac pipe runs from the engine to the N/S wing to the ECU for the timing IIRC. How much:eek::eek::eek: that's a bloody rip off:doh god if you lived around the corner from me i'd only charge a fiver to do the tappets as it takes longer to get my tools out than to do the job:lol
