starter motor is my bet, thats how mine sounded

Bugger. I'll get one of the guys to check wiring still. I've been having is "flat battery symptom a while after a few shortish start stops" i thought a loose wire could be the offender as it would limit charging ect.:nenau

Initially i just shrugged off the flat batt symptom as "my truck doesent like short start stops"

Did you not go wadding recently? these starters do not like water, best way to prove it is put headlights on full beam make sure you can see the beam clearly (in the dark or someone standing in front) then operate the starter if the lights go very dim then battery or connections, if they stay fairly bright then motor, Rick

If it is the starter motor mabye I should rock her into gear? :nenau that tends to turn engine and bendix on starter motor??? (Or something on motor :lol)

good thread.
I would swear it was the battery too. but if you have fully chardged yours at work and tried it with that big bad boy spare then I too would look else where.

poor terminal to the solenoid maybe.sticky starter maybe.
either way don't be disheartend.

just teething trouble.

I brought mine November 12.
I brought it from a stealer in blackpool with full mot:roflol:

cheeky bastard even turned the tyres inside out to make it look ok.every rubber bush needed replacing it wouldn't start the day after I brought it without easystart:eek:
I remember it snowed a couple of days after purchace a lot. loaded the car with the essencials and boof no go:(

I fixed everything.learned a lot.and wouldn't change my truck for the world.even though my exhaust fell off today and ive snapped another drop link:doh

by the way. that engine bay looks immaculate and the interior looks new too.
it will last you many years
:thumb2

Thanks dude, i needed that man cuddle :lol

Be warned if it is the starter it is a real pig to do!!!! Once done they're fine again tho

Mine was the same & got new batterry, new connectors, checked earth the lot....it was the starter after all

i got the new battery aswell, then it was the starter which was also cheaper :doh :lol

I had the same, Was the starter.
Luckily I had a one with a broken solenoid, so swapped bits about to make one good one.

have you had a multimeter on battery:thumb2

Yeah I did, not today tho, she was charging but charging a little lazy, would go upto 14 with some revs. This would be typical if battery wiring is poor though?

JUST LOOKED AT YOUR BRILLIANT VID WITH YOUR LIGHTS GOING OUT, YOU HAVE A BAD BATTERY OR MORE LIKELY A BAD BATTERY CABLE CONNECTION, GET HUNTING, CORRODED EARTH IS FIRST TO FIND, Rick

same symptoms mine had, as i already said i changed the battery for a new one and still got same symptoms, changed the starter it fired up first turn

But I still think a buggered starter will still draw the current to dull the lights.

Personally at this point I'd replace both and have done with it.

Blimey, big step for me as I'm not mechanically handed atall.

Defo gotta try the wiring first. The starter would give no warning? Just an instant fail like this? Bearing in mind it cranks much better with the lights off? (first video)

Thanks for everyone's help and support, no other club like it :thumb2

put the live connection from that battery to the live on the starter and see if it turns it over
