Standard reading to and from? (And i take it you measure with ignition off doors locked ect?

Ignition and everything else off, doors locked or unlocked won't make any difference but they need to be shut. Set multimeter to amps, disconnect -ve clamp and place one probe on the battery clamp and another on the terminal.

Normal parasitic drain should be around 0.03 Amps (I think) and if the multimeter reads more than that then something is draining the battery, you might even see a wee spark when you connect up the multimeter.

set to amps, cool thanks :thumb2

I will pinch the work multimeter, fit the new battery got for a long cruise, check the charging after 30 or so - running. then shut off and check the amp drain :D

More good advice from the team, good news that it's running again mate :thumb2

We had a Volvo that was running and starting perfect, my wife stopped at a shop to get some bits and when she tried to start the car a few minutes later, nothing, just a click.
The AA came out (I was out at work) and checked the battery, totally fooked.

They can and do just die.
