I made one out of my old one. Binned the old ball joints and fitted rose joints instead. Cheap as chips and will last much longer :D

Thanks Makeitfit, I have found a new one so my problem is sorted. However I do like your idea so I keep that in mind for the next time.

i hope you find our workshop manuals page usefull in your project :thumb2

To be honest Briggie, I haven't had a look at them yet. Got the Nissan service manual and a sort of Haynes manual. However ripping the car to bits is the easiest bit, putting it back together and adjusting everything is a completely different ballgame.

The project is still ongoing. Prepared the 'new' chassis, axles and tank guard etc. for painting but the weather is letting me down a little bit. Everytime I need to work for my money it is nice weather and when got time to work on my car it is to wet to paint.

Need to do some work on the body but that has been delayed due to another act of nature. A bird has decided to make a nest under the bonnet and as of this moment the eggs have just hatched. So untill they have left the nest the body will have to wait. Not going to interfere with nature.

:clapGot one in English if your interested 92Mb in 14 parts:eek:

theres one in english on briggies manuals site, you could download it to make sure ts the right one if you like then if its not we can replace it with the copy you have :thumbs

Alan, have been thinking about a tarpaulin or gazebo but the paint has a limit to the amount of moisture in the air. So it will have to wait till the weather clears up a bit.

In the meantime there are some brake lines that need to be made so not wasting my time.

I like many others, are watching this thread with great interest, quite a task to take on.

When you complete it and get it back on the road it should fly through the MOT :thumb2

Time for a quick update.

Unfortunately not to many photo's to show. I have cleaned the 'new' chassis and when I was ready to start painting it started to rain so had to delay the painting. However I have painted the chassis last week and it looks lovely in gloss black. It takes 72 hours for the paint to fully cure so the chassis is now sitting below a tarpaulin.

While I waited for the chassis to cure I have been working on the suspension and steering parts, cleaning and painting.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the chassis now it is fully painted but will do this next week. Below is a photo of the steering and suspension parts hanging in my parents garage so the paint can cure.

Next item on the list is to clean and paint the axles so that I can turn it back into a rolling chassis. Fortunately the reassembly stage is almost starting which will be good.

My new welder should arrive within the next couple of weeks so that will give you something to laugh about. A few repair jobs on the body which need to be done like the door sills, wheelarches and the battery tray under the bonnet.

This is an excellent thread, keep up the great work. It gives me and probably others the will to crack on with work on our own trucks:thumb2

Back home tomorrow so I will try to get some photo's of the chassis in the next couple of days.

Bought a Portamig 185 MIG welder. Slightly over the top for my needs but bought on the rational that a good welder makes it easier to learn how to weld. At least I know the machine is good and the problem is me not the machine. :augie

BEST THREAD ON THE FORUM

& It's to do with a 4x4 not pointless chuff

Another day, another job done. :thumb2

Cleaned the axles yesterday and put on the first layer of paint. today I started early and managed to get three layers of paint on. Now they can cure (72 hours) so that I can install them on monday.

Due to some supply problems I have nearly run out of my black paint, hence why the first two coats are silver and the final two coats are black.

After the second coat of silver.
