suppose wot i meant is mines a jap import , not a spanish import and even mines stamped behind the drivers door ..... so i guess his will be too

but the project truck is a troll not a t2

but yes ask nissan. or if your confident you cant find numbers, then its safe to assume no one else will . so build away

first time ive read this thread, great work and balls of steel

big respect

just had a look at the y61 manual ..... and its stamped in the same place as the t2 ( thats the chassis number )

model variant is on the plate under the bonnet

Good work Briggie :thumbs

Briggie,

Maybe I should put 'idiot' under my name. :lol Never thought about looking in the owners manual for the chassis number locations.

But as you say it is in there for all to read and it should indeed be under the drivers door. However on both chassis the number is not there so I guess thats only helpfull in my case.

Thank all of you very much. Project continues. :thumbs

it isnt a plate ... its stamped on the chassis behind the drivers door if that helps

Perhaps it`s actually part of the body? surely if it was stamped on the chassis there would have to be a hole in the body through to the chassis to enable it to be seen?

the body and the chassis being separate entities would make stamping chassis numbers of a waste of stamps :)

if you want the full y61 workshop manual , i can e mail it you one section at a time :thumb2

this is the full workshop manual not the owners manual

Unfortunately starting to feel like a stuck record but there is no sign of a chassis number anywhere on the chassis. I have been all over it today and can't find a number on either chassis.

However if somebody finds it on a Y61 then I would like to see a photo. Obviously not with the whole chassis number visible.

if I were you, I'd stop worrying about it and just crack on with the job, if you are really fussed ask your MOT testers opinion as he is the only other person who is ever likely to look for it - and that's not very likely :thumb2

Plank,

Rest assured I am cracking on with the project.

Just trying to find out if there is a chassis numer and were it should be on my car. The manual says (as others already mentioned) it is under the drivers door but nothing is there. Interested to know if my two chassis are the only noes without a number or that more Y61 chassis have no number.

On the Mav / Terrano the size of the numbers are about 20mm high, and you can best see it when you shine a torch along the side of the chassis.

You may have to put a blanket over it and use a torch under the blanket.. brings back memories.. :nenau
Or wait till it goes dark and have a look.

The project is still on track. Finished cleaning the 'new' chassis today and now it is ready for a new coat of paint. Hopefully this will be done on friday. Fingers crossed.

After cleaning the chassis I started removing the front axle from the old chassis. however almost striaght away I ran into problems. The steering relay rod will not budge at all. Had the blowtorch and everything on it to no avail. Unfortunately in the process I have managed to rip the rubber seal which holds the grease.:doh So now I am on the look out for a new sterring relay rod.

Anybody any clues where I can get one from? Had a look in the usual places but they haven't got it.
