Cracking mods there mate :thumb2
Amazing when you look back at the standard pictures the transformation is epic ;)

Cheers :thumb2
I remember when I bought this one and my words to the Mrs.
I think we should keep this one relatively standard as you will probably be driving it more than me :thumbs:lol
That lasted about 3 months

nice thread,

actually thought you'd done the body lift, in the early tyre shots going by the air
in the arches.

Just goes to show what can be done with a 5 door, and be a pro 4by.

It didn't end there :lol
I still wasn't happy with the look of the front end and the winch was still a little too exposed so I made myself a 5mm think front bash plate.

Approach angle was now good but the big lardy bumper on the rear end kept taking the rough end of things on the departure angle.

Time to shed that overhang.bumper was cut flush, lights moved up into the body and a simple blanking plate was designed and fitted.

A couple of reversing lights where added complete with guards and she was showing off her new pert rear.

next on the list was to get some better protection on the tank as the standard plastic junk just isn't up to the job.

That was the front and rear sorted for protection so i moved onto the sides.

scrounged some old 50 diameter 4mm thick wall hand railing that we removed from the new factory and set about making some sill protection.

rather than weld them to the chassis i opted to bolt them on.

next on the never ending list was to tone down that gold bottom half.
Had a dark metallic satin grey at work left over from a job so on it went:thumb2

was quite pleased with the final look.
now onto the rear door.Wanted a little shelf for a cooker so i recycled a bit of medical grade stainless for the door panel.

added a shelf made from aluminium, painted that black and fastened on a single burner stove.

all folded up nice and neat out of the way.

As promised here are the pikey tarp endeavours that followed the discovery of some very rotten bodywork.

Out came the grinder as I started on the laborious task of cutting out all that rotten metal.

After some serious thought about how to proceed I decided to totally rid the back end of all the rot and cut out the floor from the seats back.

Made cleaning and painting the chassis easier :lol

Many a cold wet weekend was spent under the pikey tarp cutting out rot and welding in new metal.

Eventually started to take shape again.

As I had loads of 6mm rubber sheet left from other projects I put it to use as the rear floor covering.

Now onto the outside

Started to finally get it back together.

Now time to sort out that rotten front wing.

Finally back on the road after almost six months.

It's maiden voyage after it's rest was a well deserved long weekend laning in the Lake District.

Was faultless all weekend and never missed a beat :thumb2

That is some awesome project, I am far too long in the tooth to be doing something like that, but nice to see, Rick

70 Rick, I wouldn't believe it!!!!! Not they way you were on the floor and under those cars the weekend :bow :bow

Thought it was about time I updated my cb set up so the Mrs got me this for Xmas.

Also treated the old girl to a new head unit.
Only a cheapo Bluetooth unit but sounds OK and has took Away the need for a glove box full of cds.

Another project I put on the back boiler was a heavy duty rear bumper.

Added a couple of little eagle eye leds for reversing lights and my towbar electrics socket.
Now I had a nice freshly painted rear bumper the rest of the bottom half looked seriously tatty.
Back into the paintshop for another bottom half make over.

Went for a satin black texture finish this time round.

As easy as that ha ha.

One of my favorites :clap

Now I was happy with the look of the truck again I turned my attention to the untidy boot.

First job was to make a storage box that fitted over the wheel arch.

Trial fit was OK so I pressed on with the rest.
Powdercoated the door black and fitted some rubber bonnet catches to keep it shut.

Opposite side was just a simple open top box.

I fitted a divider in to keep my stuff neatly behind the seats.

Final step was to cover the floor with my chequer plate style vinyl.
