and cos I can't tinker with the Mav, its too advanced 8O With the disco I can cut and drill

.... and weld and rivet and stick. Does blutack play a part too? Sealing wax? String?

More seriously, if I wanted to do lanes like Stanage, I'd buy a 200Tdi Defender 90 - or maybe an old G-Wagen (and a welding kit). Roych Clough is about as much as I think I should be doing in the Patrol - for now at least. It breezes up that without a problem - but then again, it's a lot easier than Stanage. Maybe in a few years when I don't think of it as a "shiny" any more ..........

get another truck - 1 for posing and 1 for bouncing off things.

Thats what we like to hear.

Its an amazing feeling throwing it about and not worrying about the paintwork, I seem to aim for stuff now!! Just makes me laugh

As for Stanage, I need to conquer that. Watched loads of vids now with various vehicles making it, so bring it on 8) 8)

Need to have a good guide though......

The best laning motors around are (in order of preferance - best first) ......

1) Some one else's.
2) A really old scruffy one of any marque that is worth about ninepence.
3) A Defender 90

Simple as that, I think

Cheers

Id like to give it a go. somthing i have often thought is that most green lanes just look like farm tracks that I am used to, I dont want to offend any one though!

Oban, eh? OK - so go have a look up the Corrieyairack Pass. When I was there last August, it was all washed away and impossible to drive - at the bottom of the zig-zags, about 3 miles on from the Melgarve bothy.

I did hear that someone had put a chain across the track recently just after the bothy, so you might not be able to get even that far. :(

Cheers
Andrew

I have never been but have heard its not to bad, I might give it a go if bits are washed away though!

Some of it has been repaired - but as it was when I saw it, you'd be wasting your time in a Terrano. No even remotely standard motor could have made it up the hill. If you have a Unimog, who knows - but otherwise ............ http://www.lowrangetv.com/play.php?vid=123

It's only a little over 80 miles from Oban to Laggan - you could pop up this weekend for a recce. If the track has been fixed, I'd love to have another go at it.

Cheers

99.9% of the time there are no scratches on most green laning, but and this is a BIG BUT there are times when it cannot be avoided, which is why I have everyone sign a disclaimer

Besides most damage - if its going to be done, is underneath or on the sills - out of sight out of mind -rotfl-

Leave the mud on your truck and you can't see the scratches, problem solved

One potential downside to that is that the chassis will rot a whole heap faster.

Do Stannage often enough and it will clean the rust off the chassis each time -rotfl-
