No probs, what we'll have to do is park up somewhere out of the public eye and have a chat about euipment etc.

Its not the "done thing" to practice recovery techniques on green lanes unless you have to, best normally saved for pay and play days.

Because of the large numbers attending I want to get groups away quickly rather than stand around in the cold.

I'll see what I can arrange and maybe at Lunch time or at the end of the day can run through some basic equipment.

This topic is now so far off topic, perhaps we should change the title like I did on one of the others to chit chat.

I can't split it cos its just about all off topic

as Max of Max & Paddy would say "thin ice, my friedn thin ice"

Maybe a change to chit chat -stanage- and other stuff, hows that for a title! I think some briliant debates arise from threads though! it is nice to keep them going some times, as if they reach a resolution it is better than leaving things up in the air!

Better resolved I agree

Theres got to be something wrong here if we all agree

I dont agree with you on everything, i still think your disco smells! (of chip shops  )

I must admit i wouldn't care to drive stanage at all, it seems like a big bunch of bricks deigned to damage your vehicle might be eaiser to just run it into the garden wll and have done with it

Well, yeah it does look a bit like that. I do quite fancy having a go at it, but I really don't want to damage the Patrol. I'm not sure what I think about using waffles either. It feels a bit like cheating. You could probably get a Nissan Micra down Stanage if you used enough.

I think I'll just leave it that I'm happy to wimp out for the time being. Discretion being the better part of valour and all that ............ :(

Cheers
Andrew

I haer hat you ae saying, maybe we could join the waffle boards with cable ties and make a DIY track laying vehicle? what a modification, remeber you saw it here first!

The whole point of Stanage is the challenge, especially that poised by the rocks. A feeling of aprehension at the start, a feeling of satisfaction at the top.

Its absolutley amazing at just what a 4x4 (most makes) can achieve when allowed to work its full potential.

Waffles, jacks and other eqpt are there in case of problems getting hung up etc, not just to be used to ease the way. If that was the case we may as well tarmac it.

Spot on Andy!

I always talk to my motor, tell her she's 'just gonna walk up it' and not have any problems (oh and touch the gate post on the way up for luck).

Seriously though, there's nothing like the feeling when you drive up yourself. Stanage is also one of those lanes that changes regularly cos of the weather / washout - it seems to change every time you drive. Personally, must have done it a couple of dozen times now over recent years and even now it's still a buzz :D
