Another thread on the Black Pearl. This time I'm cleaning up the chassis from years of fermenting mud and tin worm shenanigans
Here's a pic to get you an idea of what I started with. It is worse than it looks , honest :lol

Obviously most of the suspension and steering ancillaries are off. They too are getting a refurb before refitting .
Wire brushed and mud poked out of all the holes, of which there way too many to make sense

Cleaned up the bottom arm too and ready for rust cure/stabaliser :)

Coming up bloody roses I tell you :clap

Last bit for tonight .

Another day off later in the week and I can paint it .
On going :homer

The chassis came up great Pete considering it's age & what the truck has been through over the years:thumbs what are you using to treat the rust with ?

This stuff came highly recommended and discounted from the motor factors :sly

I've got pretty much all the rust off but the surface stuff gets it :)

Cheers Pete:thumb2 one of my mates was working for a company up here who make hammerite products & he's given me 1/2 litre of rust remover:D sadly he got layed off before he could get me a load of blue paint & more rust remover:doh

Mine could do with a few gallons of that
Done a full service on mine over the last couple of weekends and noticed alot of rusting I need to get sorted.
Have got a little shot blast gun I was going to use to clean up the chassis with.
Just got to scrounge some blast media from work and a bit of dry weather.

About 200 gallon of the stuff with a big bath and drive my truck straight in to it, job done:thumbs

Looking good Pete, what you gonna paint it with?

If I ever do it again, it'll be quicker to take the body off.
As for paint, I'm not sure yet. Probably more black erm , TBC
Any ideas ?

You could get Alex down as he loves painting with hammerite:augie:lol

Fertan is indeed good stuff, using the same on mine :). Very handy: you can - and should - use it on a wet surface. So no need to let the chassis dry off, better give it a good hose down including inside, and then spray the Fertan on. Make sure not to do it on your garage floor or driveway. Stains are not removeable.

Note though that it will come off if open to the elements and not protected by stonechip or so.

Payday see's me with a 2" body lift and a couple of tins of Waxoyl

Then like you lot I'm just waiting fro some warmer days

Warmer days :p Got home at 4 today and it was cracking :D
Got another section of chassis cleaned off and rust paint applied :clap
Rear section here showing off many repairs

Middle section again came up a treat ;)

Getting there just like spring
