Well, this week I have mostly been doing this...

After a few hours of scrubbing I have removed the last 15 years of previous owners hair grease and fart residue! I also polished the steering wheel - bit of a mistake as now its so nonstick I could sell it to the makers of Teflon!

There is still a bit of grime there, but it smells nice now!

I also discovered that the rubber bung thingys at the top of the radiator mount were missing, so I have ordered some more from Nissan but in the meantime I have done a wee bodge.. (Thread title!) The cable ties are just pulling the radiator to its correct position and no more, allowing it to move about as it would if the rubber bungs were there.

I have also added some custom scrapes down the sides, for added off road/green lane cred!

And I made a start on the HORRIBLE picture on the spare wheel cover..

I have also ordered a bunch of stuff - only accessories at the moment, but I'll post it when it all arrives in a week or so.

Anyway, off to locate all my extension leads and then its hoover time... Oh joy.

Stay tuned, more to come next week!!
Brian :)

Nice start

The interior is stunning now, have you managed to get rid of the smell of dog yet?

That rear wheel cover sticker was awful :flush:

It now smells of my own dogs, and leather polish stuff and disinfectant spray, but the heat will bake that out.

:)

Just stuck my nose in the truck and the smell is all gone! With the help of that anti bacterial spray chucked all over the carpets and the leather polish, the sun has baked off the smell.

I have decided to take one for the team and get an Xtrons single din head unit (giggity!) This one will do...

http://xtrons.co.uk/d719a-7-hd-digi...multi-touch-screen-single-din-car-stereo.html

It'll leave more room in the dash for a CB unit just underneath. Plus I know there are tones of amazing GPS, and OBD apps. I'll also be able to load it up with a load of music, videos and audio books. I'll do a full owners review of it for anyone else interested, but that may have to wait at least a month, I have to buy a suit...

I was all excited then cos I'd love to change my head unit. That looks good.......... but I'm not interested if you have to wear a suit to use it :freak3:

Finally got rid of that horrible picture on the spare wheel cover!!

I also spent the morning using up the rest of that leather polish on all the seats - its like they were soaking it all in, making up for 15 years of sweaty arse and no polish!

Brian :)

Also got rid of that eagles thingy..

Tomorrow its time for that sticky fixer stuff to bugger off!

Brian :)

It's starting to take shape! :thumb2

It's a shame that the OBD function on the stereo wont work though! That would of been a cool thing to have on a head unit!

1. Why wont the OBD work? Is my truck too old for it?
2. Using a nail, a wood screw and a half brick for a hammer I bunged this mega cheapo bonnet deflector thingy on today...

I immediately went out and scratched it up on some hedges so it doesn't look too sproggy!

Only kidding, I used the provided fitting kit and a screw driver ;)

Looking good. Liking the ingenuity, who needs tools anyway :lol

And you get to change your profile vehicle now. Today is truly a good day.

The port is compatible with 'Consult II' type software.

If you want to use something like this, you then still have to use an adaptor to connect it to the OBDII port!

So I use a Bluetooth OBDII adaptor, and something like this...? Its an Android head unit.

*EDIT* I have looked on the app's site, and it looks like I'll need an adaptor and stuff, but I should be able to get it to work somehow. But main reason for Android head unit, is tracks type GPS apps. *EDIT*

Anyway I went out and about today, and reopened the lane into the woods to the on site gravel pit.. More scrapes added :) And full difflocks + 4H needed, almost spilled my coffee at one point but got this shot which doesn't show the full angle of the ramp thingy..

I'll have a look through my dashcam and see if there's any decent footage later. Loving the power, adaptability, capability and all round crush bushes and hedges to deathability of the Patrol!!

Brian :D

I've used that app in conjunction with the ELM327 adaptor as per their list from the compatibility page on their website

All I ever get is Ini Failed :doh

Oh well, at least I'll have good music and mapping software on a fairly cheap platform :)
