Tbh it sounds like they just need to fit a dawes valve to limit the boost, a needle valve on its own (like they've fitted) won't do that, it just levels out the boost :nenau

I don't think your dealer has done their homework correctly.

Either way, I'm staying away from it. I have just seen a few Landcruisers...

Hi Brian
Welcome to the club.
I really like the BMW...the Patrol also.
I agree,
I believe this Patrol is going in to 'limp mode' when it is overboosting.
This occurs when driven hard in certain gear ranges.
This is fixable, and is common amongst many Patrol owners with the ZD30 engine.
I can though, understand your reasons for being cautious as you'll be dependent on the Patrol as soon as you have it.
The new price (£5000) for the vehicle is good considering its condition and mileage though.
There is a small group of Patrol owners on here, myself included.
If you decide to pass this one up, just spend time on here with any questions you may have, while searching for your Japanese Superbabe!
Everybody on here will help if they can!:thumb2

If its no hassle to you, ie a local garage... I'd take that test drive and if I felt confident consider it for that price.

I know of places that would have botched the job together and sold it to you anyway at full price!

They seem very genuine and concerned.

If possible, get a list of the parts they have bought and have yourself a read thru the Aussie forums to put your mind at ease.

The over boosting whilst being driven hard is quite a common problem and with a few relatively cheap aftermarket parts can be sorted. (As mentioned already, a few of us, inc me have done this.!)

Either way... We're here to help and advice if needs be!

After many days of searching and changing of mind etc. I have finally settled on this one...

Only £3995!
I'm going to collect it today - just the weather for it I think!

Brian :)

P.S. The green switch in the dash if for a reversing floodlight on the back door.. When I asked about it I was hoping that it was for some cool stealth tech, or a smoke screen thingy like James Bond, but I was sadly disappointed..

Looks lovely. Must say though, it's a strange place to put a switch and also the lamp! :nenau

I will bin that lamp. I may bung an LED strip on the roof rack when I get it though as I like the idea.

Brian :)

That's a good idea Brian.
Sorry about posting twice... small phone, big thumb!

I just thought you really believed in what you were saying!! lol

Lovely motor, great colours :thumb2. Re lamp and switch, meh whatever, but have a good look at where the lamp is mounted I think it may be starting to rust and I bet those doors are hard to find.

That's the way:clap
A full roof rack with front and rear light bars. :thumbs

Definitely need to check the rear door to make sure there's no water ingress through the bracket.

Looks a nice truck, pleased you found one.
I will keep an eye out for you, should not be hard to spot with that spare wheel cover.

Lol that spare wheel cover will be getting binned v. Soon!

Yes, at last!

Very nice... Great colour too!

An official welcome to the family! :thumbs

C'mon Brian!
That was at 1500hrs your viewing!
What's the verdict?
