Just wish I'd been able to drive in there with a lifted, bullbar'd monster truck!!

There weren't any lights or anything, I just rang up inquiring about a few parts, and the bloke told me about the recall.

Everythings ok now, I'm back in the mud!

Short video to follow of pushing through and old track - it's rendering now and I'll have it uploaded within the hour..

Just been testing the drivetrain in all settings in their proper environment and everything's working well. I have had a good poke around and found a whole bunch of old cassette tapes - which went smartly into the bin!

Does anyone have experience of this type of dashboard? And is it possible to slice that plastic bit out to enable fitment of a double din head unit (Giggity!)

Brian :)

On my 99 X reg Y61 the headunit was the lower hole and i mounted my cb in the upper hole, as it had a memory powered it off the live feed to the head.

your build makes me want another, though loving my 3.0 terrano. many of my sagas are in the trol section, limp mode, hgf, rebuild revealing 3 cracked pistons.....

There's been a Nissan recall for certain vehicles that may, or may not, be connected to this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40401471
There won't be an airbag warning light.
If you have a doubt, get down to Nissan and they'll check and change it for free if needed. Mine was done last year.

I did this at the start of the year Simon.
Mine was on the recall list.
I went in with a flashing light.
They say they had checked mine (with no paperwork to support this) and I left with a flashing light.
They said it must be another issue with my airbags, and to book it in with the possible cost of £1500 approx if a new unit was needed.
One guy was rude & embarrassed me in front of a queue of other customers.
I complained to head office after they requested an online review of my recent visit.
I've heard nothing.

I'll never ever use them again!

Wow, what professionalism.. Have you done any internet reviews on them? I'd be all over them with shitty reviews, and naming names etc. Have you tried another Nissan dealer? Best get it sorted, that airbag could be a killer mate.

My local on the Isle of Wight was all courteous and professional, just generally great guys - even after I told them what I'm going to do with my truck! They even looked for and ordered that trim panel in the boot that covers the jack (mine is all crumpled - looks like its been marched on!) In fact I think I'll book the truck in with them for a filter service and cam belt change in the next month or so.

How much is a cam belt change on a 3.0 Patrol?

No cam belt to change on the 3.0 :thumbs

It's gears with a chain from the injection pump which drives the cams. Aussie consensus is the chain shouldn't need touched provided you keep up with servicing.

I'd have given as good as I got or told them to shove it and walk out. I've worked on the other side of the counter and there's no excuse for being rude (well, there's a couple of exceptions but T-Doug has been told off for using naughty words already).

Right, I now have a fresh hammer, and I'm off to have another go at fitting my Head Unit. If it doesn't work this time, I'll have a go using some PE4!

Well, its fitted and working. First impression of the Xtrons D719A is...

(play this before reading review...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZGnCu5hRzc

Its a wee bit slow.. It takes several ice ages to start up, but once its up its more useful than a bucket full of Swiss Army Knives! Android. Nuff said. The music is crisp and clear - I was playing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrgpZ0fUixs while driving through Newport at FULL volume, and there were chavs lining up along side me laughing - either that or eyeing up my 16" alloys!! Only joking, but the sound is really good. And thats on Nissan's own speakers/cables etc.

I have yet to set it all up to my liking, I'll do that at work ;) but as usual there are loads of bits and bobs to play with, as well as access to the Google Play store, two USB ports, bluetooth, wifi, and two micro SD card slots!! They can only take 32GB (FAT32 formatted) SD cards, but there's two of them!

I did a quick software check, and it was already loaded up with the latest Android 6.0.1. version of Marshmallow.

When the unit is running after its lengthy start up, its fairly smooth and responsive - just remember to close those apps you're not using to save RAM. I'll install a few system monitoring tools and let you know the full specs etc. later on (at work ;) ) The screen is now covered in fingerprints - meh what do you expect? - but its very sturdy and doesn't flex during operation, even with my heavy handedness.

Any way this is just initial impressions, I'll add more when it comes along. Do you guys have any questions? If you have any apps you want me to test out, just let me know and I'll install them and see what happens.

Brian :)
P.S. Pic tomorrow.

P.P.S. I know why its raining. Its because I had my Aircon regassed. I like the rain, so I'll be keeping up on my Aircon's maint!
