hmm, well, this is as I suspected Peter when we were chatting. Does sound like HG but its not necessarily doom and gloom. You just have to get it into a garage, and get them to have a look.

Do you still need me to pop down tomorrow? Or are you going to get it straight to the nearest garage>?

im tempted to try some stuff called k seal ..... it seems cheap (about £10) i tried summat called steel seal a while ago when i had a leaking water pump but that was expensive ( about 30 quid a bottle and i needed 2 !!! ) that stuff is now out of my system ....... will this k seal stuff work ? , and does anyone wanna help me drain the system / flush etc so i can put this stuff in ?

much abliged as always
pete

ive done a bit of googling on this k seal stuff , and it seems to get good reviews , wheras steel seal doesnt ..... advice chaps ?

looking the radiator guys. im at Peters now, its leaking form the bottom in the middle, and the passenger side. tried a bit of radseal, the right side has stopped leaking, the middle is still leaking so im putting in another bottle to see if it will sort.

I really do doubt its head gasket-seems obvious to me by the leaking radiator.

Hey well done Clivvy. I tried K Seal after advice given on here when I had a leak but didn't fix my leak but as it turned out it was a bolt missing from oil cooler on mine.

Best start pricing up a recon rad PEte, you need your motor to be in tiptop condition can't do that that letting you down away from home.

first of all , many thanks to clive for popping across ,
im sure clive will update you with the technical stuff , but it seems the leaky rad isnt the only leak :( , it seems the rad isnt leaking any more ( we hope ) but the main leak is somewhere else :(

well, it got worse! Let me explain. I went to get some more rad seal, as we needed more (my bottle wasn't full) so we filled that up so now the rad is ok BUT, it was still leaking!! I had to get right under the car with my torch for a closer inspection. the coolant is leaking from somewhere between the alternator and engine block-but I just cant see where...

its hard to explain the photo, but I am under the car, the front of the car is to the right. The large pipe you see next to the two small bolts is the rad pipe (lower ) and to the right you can see the alternator/belts. As far as I can tell, the leak is either coming from the sump/engine block where those two bolts are, or above that-where the alternator bracket is-it is very hard to tell because I simply cannot see beyond the alternator without removing it.

:(

i wondering if its a gasket fail on the waterpump

hm , been out to the truck this morning and checked the coolant level .... it only took half a litre

Cos its not running. Im convinced its that pipe under the air con. It takes water from the block back to the rad- makes sense. The more you run the engine, the more the water circulates, the more it leaks!

cant do owt till tuesday at the earliest ..... no garages open untill then , and i guess they are gonna be busy after the easter break anyway ..... so i guess my truck aint going anywhere for a while ..... so hopefully it wont leak

i'd take a look myself, the problem I have is - no access to spare parts. I wouldn't want to start this sort of job on your road either-not enough room to do this sort of repair in safety. A garage will at least have the room, tools and spare parts.

I just hope its what I think it is, because it should work out a cheap job.
