Sell them both and buy a Patrol.

With your skills you would surely get one needing some work for a good price and put it back on the road in top condition. I would love to see that thread :D

I've been looking at Patrol's daily to see what comes up..... not a lot it seems

Seems the good Terrano's are going the same way

Sorry to be so gloomy on such a wonderful afternoon

Panhard Rod, Shocks, Rear Anti Roll bar all removed last night :thumb2

Had a crack at trying to get some of the snapped bolts out which didn't go to plan, need to employ the use of a welder and some nuts :naughty

Dead Battery

I'm not surprised it's dead, it's way too small for the Terrano, I'm glad I grabbed this from the previous owner as it seems all the bits that have been done in his ownership have been done on the cheap :doh

I'm a little annoyed as I have my Lucas XVSupreme 110ah Leisure Battery sat on the floor in the Garage but the terminals are the wrong way round :doh

I'd like to know what the correct battery is for the 3 litre as mine seems a little small. Also terminals are opposite way around to the 2.7.

Five or six years ago I replaced the battery on my 2003 3.0 LWB and was surprised that it needed some hardcore expensive thing that was different from the 2.7. Can't remember what the capacity was (the years and beer have degraded the memory) but remember being surprised

Looked around a few places and been told that it needs to be a minimum of 720CCA 90Ah

yep:thumb2
the battery on my 2.7 is for a 3.0 but its all they had on stock at local place when i needed a new battery.
Terminals where the same way round though:nenau

i was lucky that my 3.0 came with a bloody big new bosch so that will do nicely thank you.

Work is still ongoing

Every time I've been on the forum of late I've ended up going crazy and fixing hundreds of link and not actually doing what I logged on to do :doh

I have been working on the 3 litre as and when home and work have allowed, life is total full speed chaos at the moment but I'm rolling with the punches and always wrangle some spanner time somehow :thumb2

I started to inspect and work on the tank making sure there were no holes etc. Managed to get all of the bolts out without snapping too :thumb2 Tanks going to want a new seal and will be stripped down and painted like I did to the one on my Terrano, I was pleased to find that when I removed the rubber fuel pipes, I found the the feed and return have already been replaced the length of the truck with copper, not my choice of material but upon inspection it seems to be holding up, I would have used Kunnifer like I did on my Van but not going to swap it as it's bloody expensive and doesn't warrant it

Certainly nice and clean inside unlike all the orange inside mine that had been ran on WVO which must stain the tank

Here's what a 3 litre pickup and swirl chamber look like, only difference I can see between that and a 2.7 one is the size and shape of the float used for the fuel gauge

I gained access to the welder from work to retrieve a couple of snapped bolts out of the chassis by welding nuts on and spinning them out again, it worked a treat, never used that method before but will never look back now.

Made a real good crack at cleaning up the body and chassis with the old wire brush which has certainly removed some years of crud revelaing what seems to be a very health body and chassis on par with that on my van so I'm very pleased about that.

Certainly makes a mess though and is very achy tiring work

That's me done for the day

Why are you cleaning the tank banshee. Having fuel problems or just preventive maintenance. It's handy to know what the inside gubbins look like though. :thumbs

I remembered that I had a set of LWB springs in the cabinet in the garage, I've given them a clean up and lick of paint and removed the standard SWB springs and put those back into storage as spares.

Whilst the springs were out it gave me great access to the spring cups both on the chassis and the axle which both got a premature Waxoyl seeing to before the grand event just purely as there was so much room.

The springs have been re-fitted now and wrapped in foil to avoid getting Waxoyl on them the truck is ready, they have lifted the rear by an inch and I'll adjust the torsion bars to match when I spin the truck around to work on the front once the rear is done.
