Hope he can get it fixed because the rest of the truck is so great.

Once it's done it will be coming back up for sale again. I'm afraid he will have to sell it as after just going solo on his own plumbing he doesn't have a van now and can't afford to run both vehicles at the moment :(

I'll be offering it up for sale on here first anyways as I know there were 3 or 4 members that contacted me last time

Little bro popped by last night.......

He's not been using the truck much over lockdown, mainly because he used his VW Caddy and partially because it's not really working right at the moment.

A while ago his turbo gave up and we swapped another GT2052V onto it that was of unknown origin, although this allowed the truck to move again under it's own steam, it still wasn't spooling up and boosting :(

We had a quick look last night and thought we were going to get lucky :eek:

After a word of wisdom from Uncle Blocky, we set about checking the vac pipes with the intercooler off and we found multiple perished pipes!!!

We didn't have enough pipe to swap all of the perished ones but we swapped the ones that had visible holes in and any that looked short and perished but we ran out of spares.

I've told him to order some of this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272353219992

He also wants to refurbish the original turbo and refit it to the truck.

As neither of us have never done the job before, tools permitting, we were going to try the job ourselves :nenau as long as there's no re-machining etc needed

Looks like there's plenty of kits about;

Anyone ever rebuilt one before and is it a DIY job at home :nenau

Thanks Gents

Zac, a turbo is easy to rebuilt at home. Obviously if machining is required then that might change.

If you change the cartridge then this should already be balanced. Take photos and make markings so that you reinstall the inlet/exhaust housing in exactly the same position.

If machining is required then Midland turbo’s might be able to help. They reconditioned my turbo and were very helpful. They may just do a bit of machining for not too much money. No harm in asking.

Good luck. Document it and put it up in the thread. :thumb2
