I've been doing a bit of research and it appears that the standard 2.7 alternator is 70a, I've been looking for a higher one but my results have brought me nothing

I have however noticed that the 3.0 alternator is a 90a and looks identical to the 2.7 alternator

So you all know what my next question is going to be right.........

Will a 3.0 alternator fit and work on a 2.7?

QD32 eti R50 pathfinder/terrano is 110amp

I'm looking forward to the answer :naughty

Stick it on my terrano bucket list :lol

Just been doing a bit of research on that engine and it appears that the Nissan Elgrand seem to be heaped up in the scrap yards with the qd32 engine in.

Are you sure that the alternator from one of those will fit our English TD27 Terrano/Mavericks?

If so this could be a nice cheap upgrade

3.0 is flat belt unless you can swap the pulley it won't fit

Dont forget our oil pump is on the back of the alternator ;)

Also I'm sure somebody put a merc sprinter alternator on a Terrano :nenau

Ah!!!!!!!!!!!! :doh

What does this mean now then

Our oil pump is on the back of the alternator & with out that, I suspect there would be problems with over heating :lol :augie

Just been reading through a thread started by Makeitfit back in 2010 and it appears there's no Vac pump on the back of the TDi alternator :thumb2

So I'm still on for the qd32 by the looks of things

lucky sod, mines non intercooled

In that case av a look at early merc sprinters ;)

no vac pump on TDi it is under the IP, pulley may be interchangeable but then you need to check belt length, if it turns out to be just belt then Kent Bearings can supply any belt length you want, you just give them the details, Rick

You got a link to the ones I should be looking at? An alternator from a 96' Sprinter seems to be slightly different :nenau

Thanks for that info Rick, I'm hoping whatever I find will be a straight swap :bow

Sorry i havent, i cant remember if it was on here or the 4wd club :doh

:( rack your brains bud if anything comes back to you let me know as it seems that many have inquired about this mod and yet noone has seen the idea through to the end or have done something differently like a split charge system etc

I just want a straight swap alternator that will bolt in and go that is higher than 70a

I will but dont hold ya breath :(

I have searched on a few forums I'm on ;)

you want the QD32 alternator they are interchangable..if it has a vacuum pump on (it shouldn't do) just undo the three bolts and remove the drive sproket etc and put the housing back on to trap the bearing back in place.

and just to cofirm... they are all the same. even the starter motors etc as well.

My 1995 2.7 td turbo r3mR had a 110 amp alterator as standard equipment you might find one in a breakers yard.
