3000 watts rms is over 4240 watts peak ..... even when I run a disco I only used 600 watt max

Yes Rick they have to be isolated from the main system & powered from a split charging circuit, the amps run off the extra batteries & not the cars battery. Time will tell as not sure how much boot space i'm going to have to keep clear yet once we get a caravan but at the min I need every inch of the boot when we go camping in the tent (it's a big tent:lol) but ideally i'd like 4x12" or 4x15" subs in the boot & around 2500-3000w RMS of power to power all of the speakers:D would have to fit +3" springs to cope with the weight & would prob only gain an inch lift:lol

if you run two alternators you do not need a split charge system, Rick

I had a quick look in the engine bay earlier on this evening and I couldn't easily see where it was supposed to go as it was dark and rainy so I couldn't get any decent pictures :(

From what I did glance though it looks as if it goes directly underneath the alternator that is in situe now, is that right?

When it is in, will it run off the same belt as the other alternator or would I need another belt and run off the secondary pulley on the water pump?

Did you finish this yet?

Did you find an uprated alternator, or fit the second one?

Still on the lookout / deciding what to do

I have just had my battery replaced under warranty at BatteryBay in Cannock as it was a bit funky I think

I know one thing for certain, I'd much rather the 140amp jobbie but if you can find me a QD32 engine then good luck

So... Did this get any further?

sent from my phone, sorry for any typo's.

I think having it written off has stopped any future progress, but he did seem well "charged" up a couple of months ago with it.:nenau

Rustic is right, this has been put on the shelf due to my Maverick being written off :(

I have however just brought an 04' Terrano II that I picked up yesterday way way way too cheap, I've been over it with a fine toothcomb, engine, chassis, body the works and I can't find a thing wrong with it. :nenau

I'm just about to post a new project thread for it

Good luck with it.

I am still wading through Alternator numbers to try and find something, so I will post up if I ever do.

You deserve some good luck with this one, maybe the incident was a part blessing, but still stressful at the time.

I know if anything happened to my Mav :doh I think I would need some serious therapy, I know it's only metal and material, but it could not be replaced like for like

In fact the other day, two separate drivers tried to crash into it.
It was in the space of about 200 yards.
I think I must have had a Klingon cloaking device as, as I approached a car parked on the off side an idiot decided he could overtake it and pull in before I got there... He was wrong, if I hadn't braked hard I would have hit him head on. This was only a 30 mph area, and I had just passed a 30 mph speed camera too.

Less than a minute Later, a car in the road on my left pulled out in front of me I missed him by inches, the thing was... there was nothing behind me, in fact the car was a taxi, you would think they would know better.

In fact I have both incidents recorded on my on board camera.
This particular road is notorious, even though my road is 60 mph, I never exceed 30 passing this junction.
Once a month or so I have a close encounter, and every week there is debris on the road.:doh
There used to be a wooden fence and hedge opposite this junction, but after several drive throughs, the farmer has replaced the fence with RSJ's which look like a wooden fence as they are untreated steel, so blend in.

The road is only a few hundred yards from my house.

Anyway, when I got home I switched off the cloaking device...:lol
I used to ride my motorbike with the headlight on...maybe I need some Daylight LED driving lights too.

:doh

Been looking into it, but there seem to be several things you need to check out.

Firstly if you need the vacuum pump on the alternator or not... Luckily I do not.

Then there is the direction the alternator spins.
The Pulley, which from what I have read are not always a case of a straight swap.
Then there is where the pulley sits in relation to the alternator mounts.

The trouble I have, is I do not have access to alternators to try different ones, so need to get it right first time.

I have waded through the web, and I can not find any mention of anyone uprating a T2 alternator, where they actually say what they used.

TDi' have separate vac pump

does not matter which way it turns,

alternative pulleys are available both in size and belt offset, I have a few kicking around, the main think to look for is the way it is mounted, yours is bottom swing top adjuster mounted on the nearside of the engine, the Paj looks similar from what I have seen.

If you like I can purchase one and marry it up to one of my TDi's then you can fit it to yours, seen Paj ones for as little as £65, if it does not work no matter cos I can fit it to my lower alternator position for the winch, in place of the getting worn 90 amp I have now, Rick

Rick this sounds good!!!! I'm in if Clive is not

OK just ordered one for a Paj/Shogun, the adjusting brkt is wrong but figure if the 4 bolts are removed the front case will turn 180 deg so putting it right, manufacturers do this sort of stuff regular to keep cost down, I remember as a lad in London just starting work at a vehicle electrical refurb ctr at the time there were very many variations of dynamo and starter, but when all the bits were striped down you ended up with about 4 of each, Rick

If you are sure it's not putting you out, that would be great... I have found an uprated 100 amp that should be a direct replacement, but it is £135, which which was the direction I was heading, but ideally, I would like a bit higher output. Any idea what the output is on the Pajero Alternator?

With all the lights on, on a call out, I am pulling

9 amps on Amber Beacons
6 amps on other Ambers
9 amps on front Spots
11 amps on head lights
20 amp on light bar front
6 amp on Light bar rear
that's, 61amp, plus cars other lights, radios, and possible wipers, heater fan etc.

I also think my alternator is on it's way out, as it does not always have a proper output for the first 10 mins or so, and if I use the main lights, the voltage falls to 11.5 volts very quickly. It did it a while ago, but was good again for a while, but now seems to be getting worse more often.

Just while I think of it, does the Nissan alternator have the Tacho output, or is that picked up from somewhere else on the engine?

nah that is got from the fuel pump or maybe the ckp sensor, alternator would not be anything like accurate enough for the ECU
