    Introducing 96Terrano to Nant-Y-Moch

Was a fun morning introducing Ryan and his dad to the Nant-y-Moch lanes. It's quite rocky! Rear suspension flex Nissans of various shapes and sizes

    How to break it ...

Pfft. Pretty sure I've had my 2CV more airborne than that! Not as high as this one though... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/KDeh80LAVVc?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    60 miles from £20 diesel

Problem is, unless you're doing tank-brimmed to tank-brimmed, you're never truly sure how much fuel you are using. Sloshing in £20 and estimating when you've used up that £20's worth will always leave it as a guessing game. You might well actually be doing 25mpg.

    60 miles from £20 diesel

That is poor. 20mpg in my petrol Mav means I've been hooning it!

    off to wales!

Hmmm. I reserve the right to withdraw from Strata if it involves swimming. No snorkel...

    off to wales!

I hope you enjoyed the sunshine. Looks like a stormy week ahead! You might need guy ropes on your caravan... (though it looks like the whole country is going to cop a load of it, so don't go thinking this is what Wales is always like!).

    Electric window switch duff

I considered it, but I'm not sure where my (brand new, not even unpackaged yet) soldering iron is...

    Electric window switch duff

Agreed on a fiver, delivered. Cheaper than buying new ones! Anyway, here's how the fix went. First of all, used a small 10mm socket to get that tricky armrest bolt out. Then gingerly pulled the card off. No clips broke! Then you need to disconnect this wire, which is tricky as you have to hold...

    See you next week!

    Electric window switch duff

Ha! That one in the door handle is also a 10mm hex head. Sorted! I'll do a full report on the switch a bit later when I've downloaded the pics. Does anyone have a spare door speaker? While I was at it, I discovered that the one fitted is actually broken. A joint has come loose right in the...

    Electric window switch duff

Yeah, piss easy IF the screws come out! Which they really didn't want to last time. Could do with the rain stopping now too...

    Electric window switch duff

So do I need to get the door card off? I've tried that already to cure a broken speaker but didn't get very far. I think Mr Stalone must have spent some time working in a Spanish 4x4 factory!

    Electric window switch duff

Having real problems with the electric window switch on my Mav. The window goes up every time, but quite often refuses to go down. I've a feeling it's probably the switch at fault. How is it attached to the door card? If I can, I'll try and clean up the contacts, though this is less and less of...

    Shocking brakes on a mav 2.7 !!!???!!!

I'd also say rear brakes. If there's air in the system, the rear brakes won't do anything. If the rear brakes are out of adjustment, that'd explain the crap handbrake. The pedal will develop a LOT of travel if there is air in the system, but it's entirely normal for the pedal to go hard with...

    busy month this

Yup. Wednesday ok here too. We'll take a trip around Nant-y-Moch. Probably meet up in Ponterwyd - what sort of time suits you?

    My first laning outing

I love seeing stock stuff tackling obstacles like that. You learn in time to give it slightly more welly just as you approach a cross-axle situation like that. With a bit of momentum, you can get that inflexible front end through incredible situations. Glad you enjoyed your first outing. May it...

    Rear ground clearance mod

My 2CV has a side exit exhaust (actually a van system). I believe the regs state that an exhaust can't appear below an opening window. Rear windows don't open on a 2CV so no probs! I fitted it as it's a shorter system (less to rot!) and it stops me damaging it when I play off road (I do this...

    busy month this

Tuesdays are usually best for me. I should be able to do weekends if needs be, though I can't do the 23rd either. Was planning a trip around Nant-y-Moch unless you can think of something else Fez? I did consider Strata and/or Claerwen, but might be a struggle for a LWB T2 in standard form.

    volvo 740 project

I hate idiots like that. There are plenty of them. "Ooh, I'm going to restore it one day." Yeah, good luck with that as by the time they get around to it, they'll need a dustpan and brush to scoop it up. Or as you say, so attached to it that they'll let it just fall apart. Nice work!

    volvo 740 project

Go for it. These things are tough as old boots. Fuel pump relays can be a problem though - especially if it's been sitting for ten years I suspect! You might well find that the brake calipers have all seized up, but that's not too much trouble really. Either free them up or replace them. The...
