My 2CV has a side exit exhaust (actually a van system). I believe the regs state that an exhaust can't appear below an opening window. Rear windows don't open on a 2CV so no probs! I fitted it as it's a shorter system (less to rot!) and it stops me damaging it when I play off road (I do this less now I have an actual 4x4!).

2cv off road, why not good clearance relatively, did you ever see the africar project
styled on them, made of wood, yes seriously as deemed easier to work on in the
developing world, there were 4x4 and 6x6! versions and rocked but project failed
miserably, about 20 years ago, worth a google!

So what about the LR Freelander, they have an opening rear tailgate window, and the exhaust is below this?
How do the regs work on this then?

Maybe they have concessions for "British built" cars :nenau

For the LWB I thought you could hang the exhaust out of the rear window like a tumble drier:lol:lol:lol

My rear bumper carrier was battered and the number plate holder was bent to hell, so i removed the plate and fixed it here. No number plate light but will see if plod notice before i do anything about it, will just put it back at mot time

If you are going to have to do this at MOT time, then surely it is better to do it now.:doh

When Plod sees this, it is an excuse to stop you, they may even think that they should look at other "mods" done to the vehicle with the same attitude of flouting the law. If by chance you have had a drink...:nenau
Also you had better keep all your vehicle docs with you, to save taking them down to the cop shop.

They could insist on impounding the vehicle for further inspection.:augie

Either way, being stopped for this minor offence will at best waste your time and be inconvienient, or lead to further complications.

Don't do today a job that you can put off till tomorrow... That's wrong :doh
:lol:lol

Tip:
When drilling the rear wheel cover to fit the number plate light, remove the wheel first, as you might drill through the side wall of the tyre.:doh

:lol:lol:lol:lol

I've got a no plate light on the way from Ryan, so Im doing it same as he has on back door with a motorbike plate
