    SVO only £16.45 for 20litres!

Quick bump for this to ask Quarryman if he knows what price our local Makro is currently selling veggie oil for? I've used up to 50% with no problems, go past 50% though and starting becomes a bit lumpier.

    Paraffin

Big customs no-no if they find you at it!

    Patrol difflock

Have they changed the oil in the diff? Just makes me wonder, as the obvious sometimes isn't considered. I know the LSD oil in Terrano's causes problems if it goes off, and the service interval is something like 24k, yet I do mine on an annual basis as it seems to go off really easily.

    Proposed TRO's in Yorkshire Dales.

That lane has been disputed for years, the problem is it has a section of Orpa at the eastern end, and a bit of Boat at the western end, linked by a longer section of bridleway. The farmers at Arncliffe Cote are miserable bastards and have nasty dogs, but to be honest having ridden that lane on...

Help!! X-Trail Diesel Particulate Filter problems

Wifey has had an 06 Xtrail since January, and done about 6k in it since, not seen the warninglight you mention, but then maybe 50% of her driving in the week is motorway, plus a bit of towing at weekends. Interestingly she feels her fuel economy is no different between supermarket & branded...

    Banging Noise

Is it an extreme issue with wheel balance? Or could there be something trapped between wheel, spacer, or hub that means they are not sitting true & running straight? I suppose you've checked all nuts for tightness again? What size tyres are fitted?

Night in a big field Satdiz August?

    I stand corrected.

Help!! X-Trail Diesel Particulate Filter problems

From the problem of not being able to get ober 1800rpm it sounds like the vehicle went into a "limp" or get home mode. I wonder if the warning light you describe has more than one function, and whether perhaps it indicates a problem with the electrnics as well. Perhaps X-trails have a MAF type...

Night in a big field Satdiz August?

I'd have thought you'd known that Stanage has a voluntary user agreement to be driven downhill Andrew

Night in a big field Satdiz August?

Would be OK for me as far as I know.

    saggy rear!

If you buy these from the states via internet, bear in mind that HMRC via the courier might try and claim VAT (if applicable, probably is) and import duty on these items, so the cost could be somewhat higher. Added to that warranty issues and the UK costs might be worth considering. I've bought...

    saggy rear!

Bri, let us know how you get on with changing the springs, I'd be interested in hearing how easy or hard it is to do.

    Questions on tuning the 2.7TDi

Can't answer your technical queries, someone else probably will though! However I've got a PSI Powerbox fitted, similar to the Dieselbob set up, and found that smoke under acceleration worsened until I fitted a K&N panel filter in place of standard.

    hercules aw tyres

Let us know how you get on with the 31x10.50's thining of some in this size as well. Someone has fitted a metric equivalent size (255/75 R15 IIRC) without too many problems, so be interesting to know how these get on. Are you using standard Nissan wheels or aftermarket wheels?

    PDA Mount

Brodits are nice pieces of kit, we've got them in the terrano & X-trail for phone mounts. For GPS/PDA's the other option is RAM mounts, they come with different mount options, I use a large 4 inch suction cup with a generic PDA mount with a Mitac Mio P350 for greenlaning, and it does the job...

    coil-rite air suspenion

HB has replaced the springs on his wagon, so I'd assume his comment re brake lines is based on what he found on his vehicle when he did the job.

    diesle return pipes

Rosie, there are different sizes in Halfords, go for the 3.5mm internal diameter stuff. If you've got a TDI then you need to remove the intercooler, if you look at the download section there are a couple in there about other tasks (think one might be checking the glowplugs) that include details...

    NE1 fitted elec fans?

Very good download, superb info. You are right about those with aircon possibly having a problem, as the condensor rad & fan sit in front of the radiator. You say you've removed the viscous fan by unbolting the 4 10mm bolts, I assume the rest of the fan assembly is still in place? Do you feel...

Looks like my head gaskets gone

On some models the thermostat housing is plastic and can warp, so if there is a leak it might be worth not just replacing the gasket but the housing as well.

Servicing, MPG and Cooking Oil !! Questions,Questions !!

The engine is of an old enough design that it probably isn't fussy about fuel. Impossible to say ya or nay use it or don't but something to point out; current price of SVO is about £1 per litre, so the cost difference isn't great enough to make using it worthwhile, especially in anything less...
