There are proposals in to TRO 8 lanes in the Yorkshire Dales, some of these are fair enough tbh but others are not, objections must be in by 7th March so get writing folks.

All the relevant details are HERE

I'd have to check but I'm sure it has to be in writing. Address etc should be on there.

If any person wishes to make any objections or other comments relating to the proposed Orders they must do so by writing to Mark Allum at Colvend, Hebden Road, Grassington, Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 5LB, stating their reasons, by no later than 7 March 2008.

I've done a memory map overlay of these lanes to save people plotting them It is exported as RXF so should be importable by all versions of MM.

Personally I think there is only The Highway and Gorbeck Road on that list that are actually an issue, I cannot work out why they wish to TRO the others as they would appear to have lost their vehicular rights under NERC anyway.

HB You have to sign in to see your link.

Unless someone can host it somewhere I'll have to email it to anyone who wants it, PM me your address and I'll send it across.

You have pm.

If you use Memory map just use the import overlay function, you can import RXFs as one of the option, problem is different people have different versions of memory map and they aren't compatible with each other - means you have to buy all new maps etc.

bad news from YDNPA meeting on Friday

National Park welcomes green lane restrictions

Grassington, 18 April, 2008.

Eight ‘green lanes’ in the Yorkshire Dales National Park are to be closed to recreational motor vehicles.

The Access Committee of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) has decided to impose full-time Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) on the routes following a programme of full consultation. The Orders will be reviewed after five years.

Jon Avison, the YDNPA’s Head of Park Management, said: “This is a milestone decision for the National Park Authority. For many years the Authority has been concerned about the effects of recreational motor vehicle use on a number of routes in the National Park.

“New legislation has made it possible for us to apply TROs to eight of these routes. The application of these orders will help to preserve the peace and tranquillity of the National Park and enhance the enjoyment of other users.”

Under new powers that came into force on 1 October last year, national park authorities are now able to impose TROs themselves instead of having to ask the local highways authorities to do it. This is the first time that the YDNPA has used its new powers.

The eight routes that will be closed to recreational motor vehicles are:

Street Gate to Arncliffe Cote
Stockdale Lane
Harber Scar Lane
The Highway
Gorbeck Road
Cam High Road (Far Gearstones to Cam Houses)
Old Ing to Cam End (Ling Gill)
Horton Scar Lane / Foxup Road.

This country is full of self righteous selfish disrespectful people who like to wear woolley bobble hats. More fences gates and warning signs please  We've got far too much freedom havent we  Come the revolution :!:

That lane has been disputed for years, the problem is it has a section of Orpa at the eastern end, and a bit of Boat at the western end, linked by a longer section of bridleway. The farmers at Arncliffe Cote are miserable bastards and have nasty dogs, but to be honest having ridden that lane on mountain bike, it isn't anything amazing anyway. The farmers, BTW, just object to any usage, and even dispute the bridleway status, and having had theor dogs nealry set on me I went to YDNP & the CC with info to back up usage and complain about the landowners.
